Tons of people use Fraps. Its the best video game recording software i've seen.

Excpet it's so choppy and impossible to fight and record at the same tiem in the free verison. However, just pay $30 sum dollars for a better version.

on your computer it might be not that good... on my computer its not really that much lag, if you just wanna get the ships, try turning all proformancebars down to zero, that like doubles your framerate

reducing your resolution and color depth will have more performance impact than any other options,and it will be the least noticeable in a low-res video capture.of course you should turn off unnecessary things like dynamic comm windows & hud animation, these are big performance impacters

Thanks for your help folks, I'll give that a try next time I pull out FL. In the mean time, my copy of Starlancer has arrived for a grand total of $2.50, and I'm having a blast with that.

I didn't really know what it was, but i saw this cool looking game for 2 bucks and went "What the hell, its only 2 bucks!". Turned out to be an awesome game.
