I know this may seem stupid but, HAS ANYONE NOTICED THAT THE "SHIPYARDS" DONT ACTUALLY SELL ANYSHIPS!
By the very nature of it, a ship yard "Builds" ships, but would not sell them. The US navy has ship yards, but they do not have docking places for the ships. They are taken to ports for that, so any ship built in a FL ship yard would logically be sold else where.

as finalday stated shipyards is were the work is done and ports would be were the fun is . The reason for that is the same for factories, a item is bulit at the factory then shipped to were the public is at. not too many people would visit a shipyard for the sole porpose to buy a ship. To overhaul them yes but to have a dealership on the shipyard would just get in the way of the workers.

I think because, (except if you use mods,) the game will never let you use a big ship, for instance a battleship. Because you would never be able to to anything except crash into things. You never stop the momenttum you get with one of those things. Or dock.
Shipyards are meant for big ships, like cruisers. Not little itty bitty 1-man craft.
