Savegame Mods

Does anyone know why some mods, when activated, dont let you use them on your old savegames? Cause I just downloaded a mod and I can only make a new game.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Whats within a mod is different from another or even base game. The save game contains data that won't match the new mod, like what ships are sold where and differeng sound effect, ect. When you start a new mod, you must start a new game. You can use Open SP with most mods, if you don't won't to play the story line.
