Probably most of that 100,000 never even look at TLR now. When the game first came out, there were dozens of posts every day. Look how many there are these days.

Not at all to say the other folks wouldn't jump at FL 2. But they aren't likely to buy another copy, even at the low price is goes for now.

They made a profit off of freelancer and still are making money off of it, although I doubt to many copys are being sold today. However MS has so much going on, as I believe someone already said, I just think with their attention focused on the next Xbox it is very easy for them to forget about such things as freelancer, hell I will never by a Xbox or PS2 ,3 , 4, 11, I am a pure PC gamer and I put in the money time and energy into my comp. So as I said before I just want to make sure MS's attention is still on freelancer at least on some level. personally I think DA's biggest downfall was that they got aquired by MS and lost Chris Roberts. They'd be a better company today if that never happened (at least in my opinion).

microsoft has to work on the xbox 2. just look at the last e3. microsoft on made published 2-3 games. were as other devleopers made somewere in the 10s or so. a company like activison or ea sould buy the game name and then we are assuerd a long life for it. ea makes at least 1 expansan pack. (sims battlefeld 1942 c and c genarlas.) and activeson makes good games.

Wow, Boscoe, I had no idea FL did that well. If so, that's absolutely incredible. In fact that might be better than any space sim in history...I'm very anxious to hear what the actual count is. The last space sim that cracked 250k I believe was X-wing vs Tie Fighter (along with Wing Commander Prophecy and Freespace 1 NOT Freespace 2). I'd be very optimistic of the possibility of a FL 2 or similar title if Freelancer moved even 500,000 copies.

In regards to someone's suggestion to purchase an extra copy of FL, a sudden surge in sales 2 and a half years after the game was released will not influence MS or DA to invest in another FL project...they either are already working on something or they aren't at all. However, again, if FL cracked that high of a mark it could garner some attention by the other big companies (Namely EA who owns the Wing Commander Franchise...now that would be interesting).

I anxiously await to hear what you've got, Boscoe...if you want you can email me.

eww Electronic Arts? EA is starting to get a bad rep just read gamespy and gamespot articles on them, not to mention X-Play has been blasting them, so many good developers have left that company this past year cuz their not paying overtime that people earned, their development is just getting sloppy all around, I'd rather see Bethesda purchase the name, but it won't happen by anymeans.

hey! bethesda would be pretty good. i really liked Morrowind, even though the graphics sucked, but if you look at the screenshots for oblivion they are absoluterly fantastic! yeah, bethesda would do a good job. and they'd most DEFINITELY release a modding tool. buy morrowind and you'll see what i mean.

I'm not arguing EA reputation as a game maker of late...I'm merely talking about a resurgence in the space sim genre by major players with major franchises.

Demanding FL2, may do the trick, but maybe they don't have the inspiration, and that is the reason why they aren't making it. So if we all even get them to make it, it could turnout to be junk, but ofcourse, don't get me wrong, I am hoping for the best.
A question for the admin: Why isn't there my country on the list? I am from SiCG - Serbia and Montenegro.

We (Freeport 3, specifically DullesGuy) got in touch with a Microsoft Employee and i believe a couple of Digital Anvil people as well, sometime early last year. They agreed to try and get the project in motion, but none of them were able to get MS and DA together to arrange a development for Freelancer 2. As far as we know, no other efforts have been made to create Freelancer 2.

EDIT: I got DA's street address.

************ Austin, TX 78701

I'm going to book a flight down there this summer. No, I'm not kidding. If Microsoft Wish CLEARLY isn't giving me any attention, me shoving a 50-page Word Document in the head manager's face at DA will.

DullesGuy said that, and he's dead serious. He's going down to Austin anyway, and that'll be a side trip. Of course... it'll probably be a bit more copmlicated than that.

And yes, i blocked out the address.

I wish MS could just farm the franchise out to some well respected company in the gaming industry to work on the product. I was just reading a 3 year old issue of PCG, and at the time it stated that Freelancer was 'popular due to the lack of space-sim games'. Microsoft is probably hesitant in going into FL2 because of a seeming lack of interest in that particular genre. I just hope games and expansions like Jupiter: The Nexus Incident and JTL can put some life back into the genre. Because, seriously, there's nothing I missed more than hurting some bounty hunters with friends on the old MC server.
