Mission "Help"

I don't know about the rest of you, but anymore I avoid taking missions where the people doing the paying send some of their own folks out to "help" you with the mission. I get so sick of sitting there, pounding on some NPC only to have one of the "helper" ships fly directly into my line of fire, get hit, and then yell at *me* for shooting them. Worse, if you have sufficiently powerful weapons, the "help" turns on you and then everything on your screen is red.

Sorry. Guess that was more a "rant" than a "post"...

Its more of a "Get there before the help" and take down the enemy. I fround you can "Bump" the help and they fy around to get back into the game, you get more shot then. Also, make sure your weps are current top of the line. Just watch the friendly fire.

My weapons are generally top of the line! What's really irritating is when you start firing from maximum range and some "helpy helperton" (to steal a line from Ace Ventura) comes in from a near 90 degree angle and you wind up landing several shots that, were you actually *trying* to hit him, would have won you an award for deflection shooting! And then *they* have the nerve to yell at *me* for shooting them!

And yeah, if I do decide to take a mission (blowing up space stations (Evolutions) are particular favorites) where there will be Helpys, I try to get in and get it done as quickly as possible. Takes some of the fun out of lingering around doing "cleanup"...

I was once fighting with some baddies in the Texas system when I was amazed to see the entire system go red against me! I had a hard fight getting out of there alive. Seems my laser fire had blown up a freighter that was passing on the other side of my target. I didn't even realise what had happened until I noticed the cargo floating in space. Oops ...

p.s. Most of the time the "help" on missions never showns up until it is over, if they even show up at all!
