Alright there are three best ships in the game Eagle, Sabre, Titan. All three carry level 10 weapons. I can't tell you much more because this is not the spoiler forum. But a ship that not many people use, I would say the Hammerhead.

The lower level versions of the Eagle -- Falcon and Hawk -- are great ships. As posted already, the Hammerhead is fine, as are the Barracuda and Piranha. The lesser versions of the Sabre can be fun -- Stiletto and Dagger. But most people go for the biggest and most powerful ship. It can actually be more fun trying to do things in a lower level ship ... makes the game more of a challenge.
