Warlord bob was a member here before he died of cancer earlier this year he was only 16 His real name was Worth Riley here

in all respect and i do respect the dead, warlord is a popluar name, maybe no one can use Warlord bob, but the name warlord is a very polpular name and i dont see any reason why warlord cant be used as a server name...

we decided that no one may use it, to remember the Warlord Bob from on here, I think there should be a section made for him so that no one can forget him.

By the way I got the ip adress of the one who did it, I think it's the same guy than the previous time(as such situations happend before) who sayd he was 'The' warlord bob: *******************

TIME OUT

First up - okay, it was rather pathetic what that person did. Leave it at that.

Remember - for some that COULD be their nickname. Warlord Bob may have absoloutely NO relevance whatsoever to them. Whilst its nice to remember - rememberance should not be forced upon people at all. Its a choice - either they like/knew/appreciated the person (Warlord Bob in this case) - and wish to remember him, or they don't. You cannot expect everyone to pay respects to someone they know nothing about, especially when its done in such a way. Remember - your not asking - you are forcing. True - they have the option to play on your server or not, but its still forcing.

It would be like me stating that your nick here was the nickname of my mate who really did die several years ago. Would you change it immediately in respect? Would you think you should?

Whilst Worths tragically early death was a complete shock, you shouldn't force those to whom he has no meaning (as they haven't got a clue WHO he was at all) to 'remember' him. In all honesty - its a tradegy true, but over-reacting isn't great either.


By the way - do NOT post IP addresses on the public forum. You will not be warned again.

Hopefully, both parties involved will have a little more respect for a friend. It may be as Chips said, that individual may not know much if any of WB. But the rest here do and would not do such a thing. Hopefully, the person in questions, visits here and reads why it was in bad taste doing what he did, and gets a new name and moves on. Which, we should all do. Bob meant a lot to a lot of people here, and a great many miss him. Our memories of him won't be harmed by this person, nor will our thought and prayers for his family. Well, thats my 2 cents worth of thought. WB, We miss you!

Edit - One of the last posts he made, was a small one but the best "Feels loved" and later we found out he died. Not too long after.

Well if he really did go around impersonating Worth by claiming to be THE Warlord Bob, I think that we legitimately may have a problem with him.

Although I think WB was of great value to this community (Been on these boards for about 2.5 years, havedn't felt the need for posting so far), I don't think you can punish people for using the Warlord nick.

A full impersonator i.e. someone claiming to be WB is completely sick and should be warned ok, but a individual using his tag shouldn't be punished for that. I've seen examples before of people using almost the same nicks as people no longer with us and you can't blame them for it, i will agree it pains some people to see names of good pals and friends being used by others but you have to move on eventually. Also the name Warlord isn't a registered trademark and if a person didn't know WB you can't blame or punish them for it.

I'd have to agree with Chips. Respecting WB by not allowing the pseudonym "Warlord Bob" is fair enough, but not allowing people to use the appellation "Warlord" is not very equitable. This may be rather presumptuous, however I would imagine that Worth would be touched if someone called themselves "Warlord X" in order to pay homage to him.

what would a "warlordbob" forum have any use to maybe a sticky post where everyone can post about him but a forum?

If someone wants to use the term Warlord in his nickname, he's got a right to do that. No question.

If someone wants to call himself Warlord Bob and his name also happens to BE Bob, it is difficult to say that he has no right to do that but it ought to be explained to him that there already was a Warlord Bob whom many respected and that maybe he'd like to pick a different name.

BUT if someone, for some sick reason, wants to impersonate Worth Riley and claim that he is THE Warlord Bob. To me, that's disgusting and is a big problem and should not be allowed.
