Wrecks will always be in places ... well where a wreck might happen. e.g. radiation fields, minefields, areas frequented by pirates.

An easy way to find them is to set yourself a series of waypoints through a hazardous area, then sit back and F2 each one in turn, as when you reach one, the next is automatically targeted. Just open your Nav Map and watch. Wrecks appear as red crosses on the map long before you see them on your sensors.
