How can I optimise my drake''? (or will I need to change shi

Hello,

I am a proud owner of a Kusari Drake light fighter. I won't even bother to tell you what the milage is. One good owner (me).

Anyway, I decided to go play about with it when I completed the game using said drake.

I found I could easily hold my own against EVERYTHING.

Everything, exept VHFs.

Hell, even in Omega-5, I would wander about the minefields on the Corsair (my buddies) side of town, waiting for 8 or so Stilletos to ambush me, so I could wipe them all out single handedly.

Sabres and Eagles, however... RUN AWAY AND HIDE. My shields (a rating of about 2800) just disintergate instantly if I ever get hit, and my guns can barely dent their shields or armour.

So, here's my question: What's the best way to optimise my drake to take on VHFs? If you could tell me what Weapons and Shields I should pick up, that'd be great.

Any other suggestions would also be grand. For instance, if there is no way to make my Drake face up to a couple of VHFs, what ship should I go for? I don't want something overpowering, because I remember when i purchased the Titan in my first game... took all the challenge out. Too easy. I want to be able to maintain a fair bit of challenge, without it being too easy or downright impossible.

Cheers!

Shield class 6.. I'm using one of the more advanced shield types. WIth a 2800 rating. Gun class 5 for 2 of the guns, Gun class 6 for the other two. It can take mines, countermeasures and cruise disruptors. I have an advanced thruster on board.

The banshee is a little less nimble than the Drake, but I'll give it a good shot.

The best EMP missle launcher you can get and the best Javelin type missle

ditto to heltak, unless you have enabled the NPC to have shield regeneration a Drake is a very good ship, but helps a lot if you use missles. Personally I use Sweeper & Catapults and use a twin set of lvl 6 slow firing Outcasts Dragoon's

Well you dont have much chance in a Drake. Switch to a Hawk, or better a Banshee. but, if you must use the drake, try using this link

List of All weapons

try an Adv Tarantula or Pyros 3 for the Class 6 slots

and 1 Borocco and a Pyros 2 for the Class 5 Slots

Go with the low firing heavier hitting weapons, shields of that strength regenerate quickly enough to render high re-fire rate weapons sufficently mitigated. Try looking at some of Rheinland's guns, they have the strongest of the colonies. Invest in missiles, you're gonna need them. happy hunting, --- VH16

No, Rheinland tachyons are pretty weak. Try Pryos Type 2, best class 6 gun in the game. The only pulse weapon (class 5 and 6) is the Borroco. I usually use 2x pyros type 2 and 2x borroco as i rarely bother with missiles. Against those VHF's, EMP missiles are a waste. Mines are pretty useful.

strafe! the three VHF's are equal in strength

well buy the best guns agianst there ships and also you might want to stay out of that area of space, me for example i can play with the big boys out there but i like chillin in Rhienland

well there are 2 setups you could use:

1. 2 borroco, 2 pyros
2. 2/3 borrocos, 1/2 cattapults missiles

mine: ripper/cutter both affective tough cutter not very against shield and ripper being very expensive

for ship choice this is actualy the best after any VHF, so yeah it's possible to kill vhf's.

also fun is using a patriot, i've killed plenty of players with it, no not only beginners (for not using the word n00b). make them laugh at your ship and then killing them with 4 adv stunpulses and a ripper mine

banshee aint any good, an eagle turns better then it

If you are just talking a Drake built just for taking down player VHF's, load it with the best missles and the Hornet. Shields should be the best but you are right, a good shot and you are toast and at level 6 the positron, gravitron and molecular differences are a wash. Guns are useless in battles with player VHF's unless you want to spend a long time taking down anything. The only downside to this layout is they require another character to maintain as all those missles cost and are too expensive to use to do missions.

If you are talking about fighting NPC VHF's the loadouts mentioned above work just fine as they are rounded out for all around types of fighting. Still expect it to take a while.

Sounds like you want the maneuverability without a ton of firepower, flitting like a Drake but not bulldozing through them like a Titan. Try the highest level LF in the game, the Banshee. Not as maneuverable as the Drake but it's level 7 and thus it can carry the Lancer missle and Debilitators (EMC guns). Might be what you are looking for.

Missiles from a drake are so easy to dodge though. you might be better off with 4x borrocos and a bunch of ripper mines.

if you wanna laugh try flying a cavalier (think i spelt it wrong)

This thing is so small when you are twisting and turning in a dog fight the computer cant hit you very easily - this ship lasted me ages - and i kicked arse

there are better ships (obviously) but i think the bigger you go the more hits you take
