I just buy the best freighter available and do trade runs. When I have enough cash to level up and Juni contacts me....I keep trading. After finishing the campaign, I have a TON of money

I enjoy pirating the pirates. There was one game where I tried (and sucessfully got) a dagger in SP where all I did between missions is camp outside a xeno base and kill 'em. Lot of fun. --- VH16

Here is what I do...
In Liberty, I do missions for the Police or Navy against criminals.
In Bretonia, I go to Tau-31 and do missions on Planet Harris. (They pay well)
In Kusari, while I am friendly with the authorities, I hunt wrecks. (There are some good ones in Kyushu and Honshu.) When I am hostile with the authorites, I attack Drones on the trade lane to Kansai Research Station. I sell them to Kyoto when I'm done.
That is what I have discovered is good. Try what you want, this works for me.

I like to kill everything.

While I am not on a mission and I am a Freelancer, I like to find wrecks and jump holes and also to explore every single galaxy. I also scan transports for cargo, just curious. I avoid contact with criminals, because I like to be neutral or ally with them, but when I search for wrecks, I have no choice but to enter asteroid fields and/or clouds and there are often enemies. It is really effective being friends with the Junkers, they have many interesting bases which I often visit.

Yeah them junkers are something. I've been playing for years and I'm still finding their bases.
