Effects of damaged weapons?

I'm just curious as to the difference between a damaged weapon and a fully repaired one. Obviously they sell for less when damaged and are closer to being shot off your hull, but are there any other differences, as in hitting power, range, efficiency etc?

no just try it out kill some people and reapair 1 of the guns and another not and then try on a ship...

Have checked this, there's no differance to the weapons firepower.

No difference maybe in Freelancer 2... I have tried to use weapon, damaged to the "Red" status working as normal

can't somewone create a mod that fixes this that if it's yellow it will have half the firepower and if it's red that it have 0.25 of the firepower

That wouldn't really make sense if their performance was lowered with damage. In real life most guns either fire normally or not at all when damaged. None of this "reduced efficiency" crap.

ok then can't somebody create a mod that if weapons are damaged they can't fire........

One odd thing in the way the game is made is that damaged ships -- not just weapons -- function just as well as undamaged ones. You expected a ship that has taken a considerable amount of damage to be harder to control, slower etc etc. Does work to your advantage when you are the one that has been shot to pieces, but it seems a bit unreal.

Can weapons be destroyed if they get damaged to much? ive had some red weapons, but ive never had 1 die on me.

Also, if they die, do u lose them permanently or just til u repair them?

In a modded game, I know that a weapon or two or three can be destroyed while mounted on your ship. It has happened to me in Rebalance. I cannot remember off hand if it has happened to me in Evolutions.

Yes weapons can be destroyed. I sometimes shoot weapons off other ships, and once i lost my starkiller torpedo luancher.

I believe Starlancer worked that way. I was flying a Nagita (or whatever) fighter and took a lot of damage in the demo, and the ship couldn't accelerate or turn as fast. You could eject in that game too. Shame it didn't carry over into FL, hearing my co-pilot beg me to eject is most amusing. --- VH16
