Running in 1400 by 1050 resolution?

I also posted this in the technical freelancer area...sorry. That forum didn't seem to be near as active, plus im not sure how 'techinical' my issue is.

Is it possible to run this game in 1400 by 1050 resolution? I know this is not one of the ones listed in game. But with many other games, you can still edit a config file and run in any resolution you want. Is there such a thing for Freelancer? Reason I ask is because I am on a laptop, and its native reslolution is 1400 by 1050 and everything looks best at that resolution. Thanks.

It will bog down a lot at that resulution. You may want to try a lower one on a laptop. Desktop with a good graphics card might run it. Would not want to try it myself as the images would be too small to see. You can, always try and see, but I have found if the game does not support a size it will default to its best size.

This is in the docs for the game -
Support Video Resolutions - Freelancer only supports 4x3 aspect ratios. Please note that not all video cards support all video resolutions in all bit depths. Here are the supported video resolutions:
1600x1200
1280x960
1152x864(not all cards support this one)
1024x768
800x600
Hope it helps. And welcome to TLR.

Unfortunatly, FL doesn't support that resolution. Sorry.

Welcome to TLR Aaron! What was it again..... Oh yeah! -

thanks guys. wish it supported it. oh well. 1024 x 768 will work. I think it would run it fine at that res. my laptop has a ATI 9700 with 128mb ram. 1 gig of ram, etc. well if anyone somehow finds a way to run at this res, tell me, thanks!

Damn, I wish I had that much ram. Lucky person.

RAM is cheap these days.

Hell, I got 512 megs of RAM in a box of Trix, and I threw it away!

I'm running 1 Gig of 2700DDR on my desk top, and believe me, it helps. The 512 strip was about $119 US.

aaron said his gfx card had 128mb, not the laptop. And Aaron could probably run the game at 1600x1200x32 if he could support it because Aaron has probably the best mobile gaming gfx card.

I'm really stupid. I figured out how to play in 1400 x 1050 resolution. There is a file called PerfOptions here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Aaron\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer
once you open that simply modify the display settings

[Display
size= 1024, 768
color_bpp= 32
depth_bpp= 24

to

[Display
size= 1400, 1050
color_bpp= 32
depth_bpp= 24

I figured it was somethign as simple as this...just was looking in the wrong place I guess. Runs fine at this resolution. Looks a lot better too, and runs fine.

I'm running a 3 year old system with only 128Mb of SDRAM (133 Mhz). I've thought about upgrading to 512 but it costs £100 for just another 128 Mb stick since they don't make SDRAM in large volumes anymore. I'm upgrading to 512 DDR RAM (400 Mhz) in a month.
