i just want to know whats going on with my LAN server. (local area network).

Active your server and and connect from your brother's computer, but I don't think that if you control the server you can play. Make another computer a server.

i've got it working for now but both computers have to be on before we can even start a server never mind play it.

You can't play on your server on the same comp due to lag problems, and when your server operator finds out your running on the server it has to due a double record of information. So unless you got some really good computer, there's no way of playing on the same one

iv'e now got the nextwork runny perfectly.
either me or my brother starts up our server and we both play it.
NO LAG.
well maybe a little on mine because its a bit worse than his.
but max "PING" that there has ever been is about 5 (MAX)
