Freelancer expansion, the Coalition

this is my idea of an expansion set of Freelancer.

A long time ago, there was lots of people that belived in things, not religous things, but ideas of artifacts, aliens and lots more.
They started a little fight over which person knew more of space,
but it took very little time for 2 sides to be created.
The Alliance and the Coalition.
The Alliance belived that they were the good ones, and faithful to the ones who knew more, nothing made sence, humans never learned anything under these many years, but drugs, weapons, and destruction.

each side started sending spies and trained soldiers, and created ships, using robots and other techniques, the Alliance started it, the war that drove them away.
The Coalition managed to gain the upper hand, and finally headed for the last planet that was tooken by the Alliance.
Jupiter.
In desperation the Alliance launched 5 sleeper ships
the hope was for them to start again.
The Coalition noticed this, and saw an opening to freedom.
They turned all weapons offline, and let these ships pass by unharmed.

You, a civilian, with a ship has got a desition (cant spell it)
will you choose the Coalition, or the Alliance, who will you, Sid Edison, stand on will you be a Coalition soldier, or an Alliance soldier?

i am willing to fix systems for an expansion set using FLE if ok with the creator of it of course, if interested post what you will work with, we need lots.

Okay, is this fiction? An idea? A plea for help?

1st - don't call it an expansion. We already had one mod team try to call theirs and expansion, and it was politely explained as to WHY the CANNOT call it that.....unless they want to get into trouble of course

Furthermore, if it IS an idea about making a mod, then say so and it can be moved to the mod announcement forum. However, if it is, i would suggest more details and recruiting some help/learning how to mod fast!

If its just wishful thinking- then this should have been in the FL2 thread instead....thats what its stickied for - so everyone can post thier ideas about what they would liked to have seen and stuff...

Ill explain Alliance and Coalition to you

Alliance:
Originally contianing all persons of humanity, a peacful Democratic nation.
On the brink of reaching other solar systems.

Coalition:
Opposed people.
They wish to overthrow the Alliance and replace it with a crule almost Communistic Dictatorship.

From what you said, i wonder if you had a clue about what you where talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alliance=USA/N.America & Western Europe (NATO) w Japan, Australia & NZ
Coalition=Soviet Union/Warsaw Pact, China, some Middle-East

Because its not an expansion, its a mod.

You aren't expanding the game at all, just changing a few things about it - or modifying it

Expansion not only sounds offical, it is what games companies call their expansions for games. It would confuse people and more - just like no mod is called "Freelancer 2: blah blah" - because its not really an official sequel - its someones mod.

Like it has been said before - Microsoft is being tolerant of us modders, letting us mod the game without ANY interference at all into this. They are aware of what we are up to, and as long as we don't step over the bounds/take the piss - then they are more than happy for us to continue. However, they might see someone advertising their mod as an expansion as taking the piss. I am not saying that they would, but they MIGHT. For the sake of a name, is it really worth it? Not just for own egos sake, but thinking of everyone elses enjoyment too?

There is one last detail. 95% of mods like this never even make a alpha stage, let alone beta stage. People have all sorts of misconceptions about modding, and let it get to their heads. Once they find out that their volunteers don't have the patience or the inclination to spend a few hundred hours of their lives modding a game for free to then only have others complain about it - it then falls back to just one person. Trying to keep yourself motivated for several hundred to several THOUSAND hours of work, especially when it doens't work time after time - often leads to abandonment. More projects have been abandoned - including those that were near "beta stage" than I can remember.

Now if this is a mod announcement, then i'll move it to the correct forum. If its going to go ahead - good luck and all the best. However, if the replies are going to be pissy along the lines of "why not - we can call it what we want", then i can safely say that i retract my statements about good luck, as i hope you fail miserably. Simply put, if attitude of "I am not going to do what you ask as you cannot tell me what to do" applies, and therefore goes against some kind advice.......then it will be the last advice I give. I just hope that all advice given during your lives isn't going to be cast aside like that!!!
