Freelancer: What could have been?

The story seems to end awkwardly. It looks like my English exam, when I realize that I don't have enough time to complete the composition. Which's: Pick a good point that's not actually the ending and stop the story there.

Additionally the developers said in one of their interviews that the game was designed, so that if your rush through the SP story campaign, you'd have difficulties later towards the end. This seems to suggest that the story should not have ended when it did. Coz even if you rush through the campaign you'd still end up well.

You also notice how the ending is so incomplete that you actually need to read your log to realize the game was over?

Also did you realize that trent said that manhattan was not a bad home? But then he changed his mind? Something seems amiss there, not quite right you know.

The planets in the unknown system. They're clearly made for something else, something more... just by looking up the info of those two planets you could tell.

I believe there're other features that realy show some sign of incompletion. Discuss what could Freelancer have been in the original design, if M$ had not rushed the developers.

I don't think it was incomplete. I think it was ideal. I liked it. That's just my opinion, though.

lol - i cannot believe that this is open still. Dude - read old threads about this, its been over turned abuot 1000 times, and is up there with best ship threads for lockability.

However, to address a point:

First off, I assume your S button doesn't work, if not, lets hear your PERSONAL grievance against microsoft..........cause this childish "jump on the bandwagon of hatred for no reason" is tiring. Heck - what have they personally done to you now?

Okay - now that is out the way...............

They rushed the developers? This game took 6 or more years to make. now - i know they might have pushed forward the release - but we are playing it at least. If it took 5 years to here, for the rest it would have taken another 3 years. how much money do you really thing games companies can afford to splash out in development. You forget that the ONLY reason they make games is to make money, and if you have to keep on running a project for a few more years, its going to get to the point where it needs amazing sales to make any money at all!

If EVERY game took 5 years to make.........I wonder what it would be like - that would be so strange - oh well...........

So - we got a game to play at least, and also, imagine if it had taken an extra 2 years, the amount of expenditure would have been enormous - for a game

The SP story almost rushes you along in some places. One time I killed the Rheinland gunboats, docked at Willard and sold the H-fuel I had tractored in. That immediately shot me to the next level, and leaving Willard I got the call from Juni to meet her on Planet Manhattan.

But you don't have to do as she says immediately, you can still go off and do your own thing, take independant missions etc and go to Juni whenever you feel like resuming the story.

Ahem this is ACT ONE of FIVE that was designed, the game was rushed so only this one was implemented.

That's true, however only if you want to fly around in an underpowered space ship with crappy guns. Try exploring the Nomad system like that

'Nuff said. You can't even go to the Nomad systems until the game is over because the crappy level 16 limit gives you such a crappy ship that it's nearly impossible.

Really? Damn ... does anyone have a clue what the other 4 acts were supposed to be like?

I'd certainly like to see a FL2 if for no other reason than to get the rest of the story.

I've heard this said before also. I believe that the early beta versions of Freelancer came on 2 CD's. Was there more acts in the beta's than the final release?

Perhaps one of the beta testers could comment?
