Why are they there?

Watching the Freelancer intro for the hundredth time, I realized what had been bugging me. Freeport 7 sends out two Defenders to escort the large train, when ships are picked up on sensors.
Why has a Freeport got Defenders, as the only Freeports I've seen are owned by people like the Zoners and the IMG (civilian ships used)? And as many people have pointed out, Freeport 7 used to exist in one of the Sigma systems, and when do you ever see Liberty ships flying through that section of space?

Also, has anyone ever seen other ships that are out of place? i.e. a Valkyrie in Tau 29 (for instance)

(By the way, I am talking unmodded and offline)
Cheers!

Of all the systems, in all the galaxy, you had to fly into mine.

The simplest answer, is the game puts them there. As in Written in.

if u read the news everytoime at the bar then u know that all houses heavy fighters has entered the sector off freeport 7 remains.

and no houses may enter thus sector they all have broken rules by this understanding... like that rheinland may not enter sigma-13, no matter what happends...

house worlds may defend the tradelines to other house systems (ie. independence worlds, the borderworlds named; sigma-13 (kusari only), omega-7 (rheinland), omega-3 (bretonia), Tau-31 (bretonia), tau-29 (kusari)), co'z iff they go further the other houses can see this as a prepair off war and that is what some would see (pirates).

if u follow the news, u knew that liberty and bretonia stayed long side to side... kusari stand alone and rheinland was the trobble maker (under nomad).

maybe u knew the battleship in liberty with was destroyed by a few missiles from anubis (class 1) ships, wenn u scan them in fight they have only class 1 weaps and no missile launchers (strange). on that ship where nomads who had the job to token over the higher command in liberty.

and the destroy off this lead already to a little war between crims and cops/hunters/navy. as u maybe know about the 2nd mission (base destroy by torp bombers).

i hope this is enough info..........

DB, I just ran your post through a spell/grammar check and found 35 spelling and/or grammatical errors. I know that you can't be perfect, and certain abbreviations aren't included in 'regular' english rules, but try to be a bit more coherent please .

Thanks for this guys, and Dragon Breath, yeah, the Anubis's (Anubi?) are wrongly equipped for what the cut scene showed, and also, have you ever seen at any other time and Anubis being able to be destroyed by a Starflier? (as you can in the first mission)

I'm sure you could...
You can buy a Humpack on Planet Harris...that's a little out of place. Also, about the defenders...maybe the Freeport was controlled by Liberty. Not all Freeports belong to the Zoners. It also explains why the survivors were hauled back to the 'capital' (for lack of a better term) of Liberty (Manhattan).

If you scan the ships in the SP game, you will often find they are carrying unbelievable weapons, shields and amounts of missiles -- far more than their ship is supposed to be able to mount. Check out the navy ships in that mission where they tell you it was clandestine and you should forget about it! Some programmers seemed to have got carried away ...

It makes you feel inadequate in the last few missions, you're able to mount up to Class 6 weapons only, and your allies are loosing Cannonball missiles all over the place

Yes those clandestine people are so annoying to defeat, but a little thrusting for X minutes helps

It's worth it in an unmodded game though - they drop a turret which does excellent damage for its energy consumption, I think it's called Rowlett's Revenge

At times I will raid Cali base in Tau23. If you do it long enough you will see a wing of GC come in. I guess to help the Outcast or maybe to pick up carde. I have never seen the GC there other than when I do a raid. One other thing I find strang is the people that play Outcast on my server always seem to bring a wing or two of Outcast NPC with them to a fight. I remember someone posting about this before but they were talking about SP only. One day I may hunker down in Tau37 and run missions for the BH for a Week or two. Maybe then I will git a wing of BH to help me raid Malta.
