npc ships

i would like to know if the npc ships can use the nanorobots and the shield battery?THANKS

Presumably, they can. Otherwise they wouldn't be carrying them. But in the game, they don't -- unless you add the mod them makes their shields regenerate. Still, the shields must regenerate eventually, since I have encountered hostile ships that had full shields, but already had serious hull damage.

Wonder why the programmers made it that way. Makes it easier for us, but does give the impression that the npc pilots are morons!

I believe it was to make the game easier. I've played mods like Chips' where they regenrate, they are MUCH harder to kill as they are absolute WHOREs with them, coupled with increased manverabilityt it's much tougher but anuyway. Also the NPC shields only have a recharge rate of 1, again presumably to make the game easier so that fights don't sort of occur like har har I shot you to X hull then you leave and come back to find them fully charged on shield when before it took you 5 minutes to kill the shields.

But yes the code for them to recharge IS there, just not used. Several modded (no need to dl as it's server side) multiplayer servers have it enabled nd the bigger mods do too, possibly the smaller ones as well.

Well, get ready for npcs with shields as soon as Total War comes out. Guys, here's my advice, in a mod with regenerationg npcs, shield busters will be a need.

Everything said here so far is all well and good for the shield batteries, but he's got a point about the nanobots. I'm guessing every experienced FL player has seen an NPC ship with nanobots, still in a bad way. I guess they just didn't add the code needed for nanobot usage.

And if anyone makes a mod where the NPCs use shield batteries and use nanobots, let me know...

And um I'm sure a few mnods already exist where they uise Nanobots. I remember Cihips has em.

...Non-Player Character, pay attention to spelling and grammar.

In simplest terms, it is a character that is not controlled by a human player, therefore is (in most cases) computer-controlled artificial intelligence (poorly programmed AI at that).
