Request

As a reaction to the recent dig-ups by our new friend E-Extreme I wish to make a comment, or more of a request:

Please, check the dates of the posts you wish to reply to and concider if what you want to reply does realy add to a discussion. I.E. don't reply to a months old thread with just saying things like "That should work", or "Look in the download section", or "I don't think that's possible".

I do not wish to prevent you guys from posting in old threads, but those threads are old for a reason. So please, don´t do it unless you have a very good reason.

I hope I didn´t offend anyone.

Edit: Damn spelling.

Why not put them in a "History" file for research purposes. I have learned a lot from old posts that I can now make use of in the game. Education is a good thing.

@E-EXTREEM & finalday, neither of those are possible as that is not how the website operates. The older threads can always be revived as long as they're not locked. However you have to understand Nickless' position, which is how these forums operate:

After a good discussion has run its course, the posters stop looking in the thread and as other newer threads get more attention, it falls down the list because no one is responding or keeping the old topic alive. When you post a response to someone in an old thread, it's as if you replied to the radio in your car. You're not part of the conversation, it has ended or hasn't included you, in some cases the poster you are replying to no longer visits these forums. However, if you bring forward enough pertinent information or a good argument of your own right, a thread may be revived because others will respond to your post.

By having single sentence replies to ended conversations, you add nothing and you allow for nothing to continue.

All Nickless is asking for is that if you dig up a thread, make a reply with substance. Then a conversation of substance will pick back up.

Welcome to TLR!

That should work :-)

We don't own this place, but we have an understanding with the people who do.....

In reply to the original statement:

I'm sorry for the first two that i dug up, but would you rather me start a new topic instead of searching for old ones? I thought that was why we had the search function.

@Hammerhead, don't be a twonk!

@Viper, just make a really good post in an old thread and you won't have a problem. Make a one sentence post like Hammerhead and I'm going to call you a twonk! Or maybe I'll call you a git!
