As mentioned above, life isn't free. Fuel, food and lodging cost credits. How about a docking fee for stations? It could vary with your rep vis a vis the faction that controls the station, maybe free if you're fully allied with them. However, I think landing on planets ought to be free.

Good point.
I think they should also add DOCKING FEES. How can a Zoner base run with no Government funding from the other Houses?
Also, I know this is extreme, but I hate the little buttons above when you land somewhere. I don't want to click "Bar", I want to walk to it! 3rd person control in bases is for me. Let me walk around the bases!

yes!! tributes!
when somebody is attacking you you can pay tribute!
having trade vessles unllike the ones that go from base to base
ones that you can trade with directly
instead of taking missions to inprison wanted criminals, there can be a list of most wanted criminals....and you can look for them, whether they're diguised in a navy ship or with a group, you can take their excape pod to a liberty capital ship and get credits
all ships you buy are basic, and later you can buy more parts to the ship as you become better with the faction. the parts you buy add more hardpoints to the ship
being able to combine weapons
if you ram their ship in the right spot, their systems fail; giving you the advantage
if you get directly behind a ship's engine, your ship begins to gain damage

They should finish the story that they started in the first one, and then complete the systems, and let us all see what's behind the gate in the dyson sphere.
I think somewhere they should bring in an alien jump gate that leads back to the sol system where it all began.
The least they could do ( but we all know there won't be a freelancer 2 now don't we?) is make the alien jump gate system available to everyone because trent had activated it in the final minutes of the game's story line. I had fully expected to see that system on my neuro-net once I'd finished the game and instead was told,...."find a job". I know it's not gonna be there, but I keep hoping I'll stumble on the one jump hole that will lead to some major hub or ring of the alien jump gates somewhere in one of the unknown systems.
Hey,...it's my fantasy I can wish what I want to.

Have it like Privater 1/Rightous fire
Where missions via bar/Storyline/Etc were based on your ship where if you have a liberty Light fighter Your not going to face the same hardness as a Rhineland Heavy Fighter.
Also have it that you have a choice wether or not to do the story line (like privater again)
This way you could advance then do it break off to advance Etc
Level system is good for guns/crap but don't base it off storyline base it off $$$/Kills/anything but storyline.
Add some more missions types like those metioned above but also have it that when you join a fraction their enemies hate you their friends like you etc.
Change the Cargo abit likes victor's mod only not so radical
have it that you can't buy some of the better stuff until that fraction likes you etc
When the Going's get Tough, The Tough get a bigger Battleboat.
"Shotglass moments before the Tiger's claw blew up"

I think some more non-linear action would be good. Those who own Deus Ex/Deus Ex 2 know what I mean. An example from Deus Ex:
(747 - Orders: Kill Lebedev)
Kill Lebedev, Leave Agent Nevarre : Manderly's happy when you get back to HQ, Your're are given all of your op bonus (money).
Kill Agent Nevarre/ Leave Lebedev : Manderly's peeved when you get back, minimum op-bonus, get more ammo at the armoury.
Kill both : Manderly is seriously peeved with you, no op bonus. No new weapons
Kill neither :Manderly's still peeved, but you get free medkits, new weapons, ammo, and armour at the armoury for "humane reaction"
I think this could be incorperated into Freelancer's storyline, with Juni giving you a *bonus* for destroying ships you only have to. Maybe the storyline could have secondary objectives ( For example, get to the prision in Alaska, but disable Weapon Posts guarding the Alaska jump gate). And yes I know this isn't for Freelancer 2, but if the original changed enough, it could feel like a sequal.
Until next time

i think youve just about summed it all up however i disagree with the people hating the storyline. i never suspected such an intricate story with the bad guys always changing, and the main charachters were thaught out well. the german guy comes to mind. also if the story is so bad how come there is an entire site dedicated to unraveling the games' story mysteries, eg what happened to the other sleeper ships ect.... i didnt like however how the game just stopped. problems over aliens dead thats it. also the world seems to go on pause, relations stay the same, the news is all the same it seems like nothing happens. this was mentioned earlier but wouldnt it be an idea if the world kept changing? (i think he mentioned famines disasters ect) also i thaught the idea of being the good guy and saving the worl was a little tired, if you havent noticed for 95% of the game you are the bad people and are constantly on the run
in response to freelancer 2, there is an infininte amount of ideas that could possibily be delved into. however id like to expand on the comment "join a pirate faction in all respects" i think this is what he ment but, it would be good if you could choose your story line perhaps at the start with many story lines for different factions. perhaps a story line in the borderworlds as a corsair in an ongoing battle against the hessians? who knows, millions of combinations exsist.
also there are comments on maybe a seperate FL2 such as a return of the dom kovash or maybe the return to the original earth systems because as they say in the intro "they will never forget" maybe we go back to crush the coallition or somthing.
