A mod so that you can hire ships to follow and protect you so like if im a merchant and i all of a sudden get jumped by those pesky Red Hessians the ships i hired would protect me.

there once was a group of heros.
they were off to save the day.

No, It doesn't excist and it isn't possible. I'm sorry, we all want that, but Freelancer just doesn't make that possible

That was a nice feature in Privateer II. You could hire your own freelancers to help you out. Too bad it's not in FL.

technically, couldn't you make a way to alter say a bounty hunter patrol in the game mechanics? The effect would be the same, a wing of bounty hunters flying with you, except they would lead the way. --- VH16

You might run into problems that way, if the bounty hunters weren't hostile to somebody who hated you. I've been flying with bounty hunters or other formations and suddenly got jumped by bad guys. But my companions were neutral with the baddies, so they just fly off and leave me on my own.

The only real way to get escorts is to hire other players. Usually you can find 1 or more that is willing to group up and go with you for a price. On some servers there are those that even look for this opportunity. So, just use sys chat & ask.
