Spaceous

Hi all I'm new to Freelancer and I was wondering if there are any mods out there that capture the sence of scale of space that other games like Iwar2 or Eve have.
It's the only thing that bothers me about Freelancer at the moment, otherwise it's great.
Thanks

You mean mods that enlarge the systems? I don't think there are any of those.
There is a mod wich turns out the light.

Anyway, welcome and stay a while

Try the eoa Real Space MOD, it just makes space FEEL much more real!

Thanks, will this also work with some of the other add ons?

You should definatly use FLMM when installing Mods, because at the very least, you've got backup if it screws up. I'm still cautious when MODing freelancer.

Just out of curriosity, why? It just makes the game take longer. Try going through systems without using tradelanes or cruise engines. It's a heck of a lot easier than modding the game. Also, try turning your spreakers off for that convincing vaccum effect. --- VH16

Turn the monitor off too ... for a REAL space vacuum feel to the game.

Hehe, thanks I'll try.
No it's just that I'm looking for a game that comes closest to what I want from an Elite style freeform space sim. An important ingredient for me would be a proper sense of speed and scale. I really like the way I-War 2 and Eve manage that. Unfortunately this is simply not how Freelancer was designed so I'll just have to live with that. But a bit of extra smoke and mirrors wouldn't hurt.
Freelancer has great potential because of it's mod friendlieness and Interestingly Evolutions Mod #2's new liberty system introduces the biggest system yet. (hope more will follow )

By the way, can anyone reccomend some good 3rd party ship models?

Thanks

You could try getting a bigger monitor, a surround sound system, and a sound card like the SoundBlaster Audigy. Then push your chair (and your head) right up against the screen. Then tick off someone.

Oooo, pretty....what do we blow up first?

I saw a 'evolution' picture of a man standing up then crouching down to woek on the computer

Actually, here's a neat trick to improve the "spaciness" feel of the game.

Go to the detail settings, and move the slider for "background star detail" or whatever it is all the way to the left. You'll be amazed at how spacey the game looks now...

There's an old Star Trek game called star fleet academy. Really fun game, pretty accurate in terms of speed and Physics, plus it has Checkov, Sulu, Scottie, and Kirk in it. Really nice graphics, considering it's about 6 years old. If you want an accurate space sim, I recomend it. --- VH16

Why's Sulu in all of my favorite space sims?
