I just beat the game... Now what?

I didn't even know about mods until I stumbled upon this gem of a site and I can't wait to try one. I only have one question -- what mod should I get?

Keep these in mind when considering my question:
I really just beat the game. I have my anubis on Manhattan, lvl 18 with around 80k credits.
I have explored NOTHING! I got all of my bases and jump gates through necessity in SP.
I never got to fly anthing better than an anubis and haven't fired any weapon past lvl 6.
I want to experience better ships, *WITHOUT* having to play mission after mission. Tired of destroy missions.
I like all of the custom ships ideas.

Get FL Mod Manager and try them all. It's very easy to try each one without having to do much work. Flmod is a program where you can choose from a number of mods that you have downloaded to try at that moment. It manages your savegames so they don't get confused with each other.

And that goes for your current game as well, I doubt any mod will allow your original FL savegame to be used for each mod. In other words you'll have to start over and create new savegames for each mod, because they save different information between them.

BTW you might consider changing the Arcon part of your user name, there is someone called Arcon on this site and he's a bit touchy and likes to rant. So to avoid that abuse you can easily change it via the "Your Profile" link at the top.

Or don't, if you can handle someone being short with you then keep it. This is just a warning of what may happen.

Oh, and welcome to The Lancers Reactor (TLR).

EDIT: I forgot to include the "manager" in FL Mod Manager.

I'm a pure FL player, so here's what I recomend. Travel to Rheinland, take a FEW missions and buy a Valkrie or Banshee with pimped up Rheinland weaponry. Keep doing legal missions until you can buy an Eaagle from the Zoners. Equip it with level 10 weapons from wrecks, kill GMG's, get friendly with the outcasts, buy their level ten shield, and you'll be unstoppable and the the Universe will be at your command. Pirate, pillage, do whatever you want. Standing by a trade lane and killing everything that moves doesn't get boring for months. Stopping the game having only explored the critical little is an insult to the original programmer's intelligence. There are many beautiful systems with awesome surprises. I would recomend not modifying the game until you get a very heavy fighter and max out your level (38). Then, I would recomend "The Order needs YOU". Nice mod, adds the Horus (beefed up anubis) and a few other surprises. --- RR16

you can go to omicron gama (not shure on spelling) and try and get a titan from the corsairs takes alot of work if you are KOS (kill on sight) to them just go kill mollys or one of there other enemys for a while. its hard to get the titan you ether have to do a million missions or there is a small quest type thing you can do to rasie your faction you have to take jump holes to omicron gama and there are no trade lanes make shure you have a good ship when you set out our you wont even make it half way there

I'm a level 38 with a Sabre complete with Nomad energy blasters (if you wanna know how to get them just ask). I perfere not to use MODs. For goody-two-shoes I recemend an Eagle. If you wanna have some fun, do a little lane hacking, hop onto a junker base, fix your Rep with the Outcasts or Cosairs, Fly to the Omicrons, and pick up a Titan or Sabre. From then on you control the universe.

When I finished the scripted missions, my level was maxed at 38
I had 4.5 million credits from trading using a Dromedary. Though I now have an Anubis.

I like the sabre, it's the only VHF with forwar turrents. But after playing the story line through on light fighters, I became unable to fly a heavy one and dodge fire. Word to the wise, go sabre or titan and never go back. It'll only confuse your wrist. --- RR16
