FL engine source

Just a thought, but I was wondering if we could get DA to release the engine source to freelancer. If DA doesn't want to do a MMORPG of FL then we could! With a community this big I'm sure we can dig up somebody who knows how to write good net code.

LMAO, ROFL, sorry, just thought that it was a nice thought - but you really think there is ANY chance of that happening?

Better to try to raise the money and buy the game engine liscense (or whatever you call it) instead.

Chips, are you refering to "blender" project? anyway, helaesus, dream on. or ask ms to release windows9x code, with community like that im sure we can find someone to make them stable.

look healsaeus, Microsoft will NEVER release anything to someone or the pulic unless it's worth thier while. To get the source you would need a lisence, and theyd probably cost in excess of 10 grand

Visual Basic can compile programs into Win 9X code, so you could *theoreticly* reverse engineer it. It's just a matter of being desperate enough to break a few dozen laws along the way and have one big-a** lawsuit headed at you!

Post Fri Nov 28, 2003 10:33 pm

hahaha Visual Basic. Every code is simple reversed to assembly or you can say assembly is code machine. I assume most(if not all) games/programs written in C/C++, you cant reverse it to C since all compilers optimize it and remove symbolic assignments. So best choice for you is to learn asm.

The good news is that new platform from MS which called .NET can be easly decompiled.

Umm... I fail to see how decompiling .net would help us with Freelancer

If we had the source we could make it much better so that you could better limit ship numbers and destroy things permanetly the lists goes on and on

Clone,talking about future ms games(maybe).

Hmm, I like that idea... If .net is so easy to decompile - but I'll leave that part up to you

I would turn the game completely into Elite if I got the source code.
Too meny possiblities, too little time.
