well - i no longer get a download trying to come onto my comp (just tried the link again), but intead it takes me straight to the webhosts advertisement page for the 1000webmail thingy. Did you really have a site the other end? All i literally got was a download, and now a host offer. What did you have, as i am trying to make a website, my website, better, and inspiration for ideas on layout but also seeing WHAT can be done is nice. I know of one site, but god knows how he did it as its pretty bloomin incredible!

You are the only person that seems to be getting problems with my site did you try forcing it to go there by putting index.html after the addy? If no try that and see what you get...

@jellyfish - you need to lose the sound on your site, its slow loading even on braodband and leaves a big black box in the top left of your site. Is this the first time you've played with flash? Need a hand?

@chips - I've been a web designer now for a long long time, its my profession, if you need any advice drop me a line - its the least I can do for you letting me beta test the TEMP project. Send me the url of the site you like and I'll tell you how they did it. Sounds to me that its likely to have been done in flash - which is a bonus, because I know the program inside out.

We are refering to my freelancer site, and the big black box as you put it is a feature you can minimize in to the upper corner...

@KYJ - you are correct in assuming that I was talking about your homepage - because as mentioned earlier by chips, your freelancer site is merely a web hosting advertisement (web1000???). And I do understand what your "feature" is, and I should have phrased my comment differently/less harshly - I apologise. The "JimAmp" loads too slowly to warrant its presence...in the end its a music player, and by using the streaming actionscript commands you will find that you can still have music (if you feel the site reeeeaaallly needs it) and NOT compromise the loading speed of your site. Also it would allow you to do something far more constructive with that corner. If you're not sure how to do streaming audio in flash, let me know and I'll send you a link to a very good tutorial.

My FL site has moved. But I cant say they new addy because that would be advertising...

Agreed it sounds like gromit was only offering to help and it sounds like he knows what he's talking about. I'll contribute your temper to the fact that you have been making a mod and it has been known to cause temporary attitude meltdown among other things.

Maybe you two could talk by email or MSN Messenger for example and work things out. We all have to start somewhere when it comes to making web sites or making a mod. Someone offering help is like reading the tutorial form but only better because they have the experience and you don't have to spend as much time reading.

Locking threads don't help either because then other people cannot give their advice or offer their help and opinions. So although I have read this I'm not going to lock it.

@baked...thats a very diplomatic way of looking at things, unfortunately though after KYs last reply I don't think I want to enter into an email conversation with him....I'm a busy man and to be quite honest I've got better things to do. However, I am seriously considering opening a web critique/tutorial thread in "off topic" as there seem to be quite a few people asking for this sort of help. Do you think Bargib would mind?

I was thinking along the lines of a thread that people could post any queries about how to do stuff on their personal websites - myself and others could offer suggestions/tutorials. I'd be happy to do it...just wasn't sure if it would be wanted! I figured it would be off topic as its got bugger all to do with FL really.
