There are three types of the shields, positron, molecular and gravitron.

You can buy each type up to a certain level i think - but after that, you cannot buy the gravitron (and i think the molecular as well)

The gravitron class 10 has a very very high value, i think the outcasts use it - and it is somewhere around about 13000? However - it isn't set to sell anywhere - so in the general editing forum you can find out how to do that for yourself.

Some of the NPC shields look great ... until you remember that they do not regenerate!

this was in MP, it was the freeport 3 server which to my knowledge had no mods.

So basically its impossible to get a hold of it???

Hmmm. You know, there's something odd about what you saw. The most powerful Bounty Hunter ship only can run up to a Class 9 shield. This should mean that it could not mount a Class 10 shield. So I don' t know how you were able to scan the shield that you saw on that Bounty Hunter unless it was a different ship?

As far as where to buy Class 10 shields are concerned, that's a spoiler so you may want to search through the Spoiler forums for clues.

npc's have different shields than what's available to players. At the upper levels especially, npc-equivalent shields are stronger but have a regen rate of 1 (meaning they don't regenerate), hence why when you shoot an npc it's shields don't return. Check spoiler forum for location of shields you can get.
