I can't convince myself to use anything more expensive than Drillers, but I heard some of you are even using Rippers. I'd love to hear your justification. This is just a simple poll - which mine do you use and why?

Just bought myself a full pack of screamers, just to be able to say: I have a max loadout!
Not that I have one yet, still need a better turret and a Hornet.

None. They're useless in a fight against NPC's, and completly useless against players. Launch 50 rippers and you might get ONE hit. Boom, there goes another 300K worth of ammo down the drain.

on the contrary about rippers. i use them and i am very pleased to say that i can give an opponet a nasty suprize, and my hit ratio is very good. perhaps you are doing it wrong?

The key to using mines is to know when to launch them. If you just go dumping them out of your rear as you fight, you're not going to hit anything. There are three times when using mines pays:

1.) When shooting a capital ship, train, or other big, slow target, especially if you are flying a ship that does not carry torps.

2.) When an enemy is tailing you.

3.) When you make a close pass of an enemy, you can dump one right on top of him.

Its got to be the ripper, a ripper mine installed on the drake is a great compliment to shield munching guns.

cutters and rippers...

cutters r more well spended money and rippers r way more fun

well, they both homing, so let drop a few in a upcomming group off hunters in the front of me

... and first shoot a few sweeper missiles for some good shield dammage... and then look how they like thus mines...

If u c some1 in a dagger make fireballs from hunters it can be me
