The "Saving Grace" of games

Personally I find most publishers and developers keep their end of the bargain and release support and provide contact addresses for things such as technical support.

But no this is not the case with some, especially Mr Gates or his branch of Microsoft Games, yes he donates something around 40 million US to various charities around the world but that dose not give him an excuse to leave us gamers without any technical support other than the FAQ section.

Personally I find if It wasn’t the forums I think many of us gamers with technical problems would be without any FL at all.

Now correct me if I’m wrong because Microsoft might have a contact number and I can't find but I have had no help whatsoever form them with my MP troubles but in the forums I have had up to 9 different people giving me advice on how to possibly get over my problems in MP now if it wasn't for them I would have progressed nowhere.

We gamers are also misperceived. The majority of us are good natured people who don’t mind helping out the odd newbie with their issues. But as with everything you get the dock campers i.e. - Microsoft, they can not be assed to bring out a client update or provide any contacts whatsoever they feel that once the game is released their job is done excluding the minor fix here or there. I’m posting this to say how annoyed I am, how I paid good money for a game I believed like most I would get technical support for and have a good time playing.

I don't care if I’m wrong but this is a valid point with many games that have had good promise and have been let down by bad technical support. Just to get this off my chest ridicule me if you like.

Yeah! I mean with all the money we spend on games a little recogniton would go astray! Why bring out games without decent Technical Support? If anything it makes the firms more money, so why do they skimp? Its pathetic really, there not intrested in public satifaction, just how much money they can make and how quickly.... This need its own forum! The "Rant at Microsoft" forum! Thatll teach em!

Microsoft's only involvement in FL is in funding and marketing, and distribution. They didn't touch or contribute a single code line of FL, and wouldn't know how to fix it if they wanted to. You could always blame DA, of course, but I guess Microsoft makes an easier scapegoat and punching bag.

In the end, its Microsoft who decide wether or not there is a Tech Support or not! They just employe people who know how to fix it, well so Im led to belive..

Doesnt matter who the damned hell made it! Microsoft get the final say! There the ones who couldnt wait for all the bits of programming! Ultimately its Microsoft who have destroyed the once great Freelancer! I love Freelancer, and I dont usually put it down, but it couldve been sooo much more! This IS all Microsofts fault! But they aint gonna do anything! So its up to us to make Freelancer the game it was when it was first concieved! Nooo easy task....

And just how was this crime done? by saving an upstart software company full of talented people but otherwise on the verge of bankruptcy? or perhaps by finally putting the foot down and released a game that has been in development for 5 years before Microsoft came on board as its publisher? I see it this way: THIS Freelancer the one you're playing right now with all its 'flaws' , or NO Freelancer, because otherwise Digital Anvil would've went belly up.

Yes, Microsoft is in the business of making profit. Unless you live in North Korea, I suspect you like profits too. I'm not too crazy in love with Microsoft exatcly myself, but let's put the blame where it belong. So I suggest we count our blessings and enjoy the game.

TLR stands for The LancersReactor... in other words: This site

"In one dimension, I find existence. In two I find life, but in three, I find freedom..."

just one question m8s....why do you even care about flaming microsoft? it doesnt make a diference...at the end of one conversion about microsoft we all agree that they rule the world, they travalled in time to get tecnologies from the future bla bla...well....in the end what you get? a headache...nothing more, all points are valid in this forum, both for or agaisnt microsoft.
now, I have two things to say:
1: why should microsoft even bother to make a tecnical support line or whatever when knowing that people would help you on the foruns?? there is always some guy that is in love with some game and is able to help you, the proof? heck my friend...youre looking at it now...how many games have this kind of site behind it??!!

2:HELL microsoft SHOULD have made a tecnical support!!! why?! since distributers dont bet on new ideas because they are afraid to do a high budgget game and receive a low at least they could have made sure whatever problems apeared would be imediatly taken care of...

i rest my case friends...(oh by the way...its been2nights without sleep now...F@ۤ*ing milkshape.....hope u understand some of my english...ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZz)

oh by the way....how do i know microsoft rules the world?....when someone creates something...and lillte school kids learn that as default...................do i really need to continue... ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz "sends his head directly to the keyboard and miraclously hits reply to topic" ZZZzz....ouch...ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz

to kill or to be killed...if it lives, kill it...if it stands, level it to da ground...if in doubt?WIPE IT OUT!

It's cheaper for Microsoft to let the players handle the problems themselves. It also results in better assistance. 100 programmers working for 100 years would still not be as thourogh as TLR. And this is not just what I think it's what Microsoft told me to think. --- RR16

yeah exept one tiny problem about the Microsoft techies not helping...I CANT FIX THE GAME MYSELF or even with as much support as posible from TLR (thanks Terran) and this is not a tiny prob such as sound I cant use multiplayer!!
THAT is why I am frustrated at the amout of money-grabing stupidity Microsoft has!
