Hold your fire - this is not, I repeat NOT a "best ship

This is not a "best ship" thread, so put your flamethrowers away. I am not asking which ship is the best ship.

I wanted to know how the Dromedary compares to the Humpback in terms of handling. In my own defence, I'd like to point out that I am in no way whatsoever requesting anybody's opinion about which of the two is a better ship. I do at this point grant that the concept of "best ship" is at best a personal opinion and is in no way relevant to the facts of the game. I'd just like to reiterate, at this point, that this is not a "best ship" thread. Please hold your demands for having the thread locked until after there have been an answer or two posted.

IN closing, I'd just like to say: This is not a "best ship" thread - hold your fire.

I once did a small test with someone.
I had drome, he had humback.
We faced eachother and turned around. He needed a second or more to turn around then me. I forgot how much exactly but eh, why don't you test it with somebody =P

I think that the Dromedary handle MUCH better than the Humpback. I've found the Drom handles about like a Sabre. The Humpback, on the otherhand handles like a whale.

I haven't tried out multiplayer yet...

I've already had a Drone, which handles alright, and a Humpback, which doesn't. I haven't yet tried a Dromedary, and was curious about how it compares.

And, for the benefit of those who are firing up their flamethrowers, this is not a "best ship" thread. Thank you.

*hides flamethrower behind his back*

I've flown in a humpback quite a lot, and just recently got a Drom - The drom turns better than the humpback, but not as good as a Sabre. To compare them to Sabres and Titans, I think it would be

1. Sabre
2. Dromedary
3. Titan
4. Humpback

... *shoots with the flamethrower anyway*

the dromadary is the better of the two... its cheaper, more mobile, has more armor, and has more cargo space... ok, ok so it has less firpower, so wat? one difference in turret class doesen't do much

Knowledge is security... anything else, well... good luck

The Dromedary turns BETTER than the Titan??!?? I haven't tried a Titan yet, but I didn't think it'd be THAT bad....

These are the words that appear in my signature.
Yes, I find it funny.

Yeah I find the Drom flies pretty well, considedring it has the best cargo in the game. Never tried a humpback, but if it flies like a Titan your in troble....

The Titan is supposed to fly like a cow.... and not just any cow, a diesesed, legless, dying, obese cow.... whatever.

Me:Ok One last chance to surrender!
Enemy:WHAT! We outnumber you 6 to 1!
Me: Maybe I could drop some weapons to make it easier for you!

Post Sun Aug 31, 2003 7:01 pm

With the speed 1200 mod the drom can almost cruise through fairly dense asteroud fields... not quite as good as the sabre. And if the humpback is worse than the titan I'd say the drom is... oops. almost made a "best ship thread" outa this

We who are about to die salute you!

I think whoever designed these ships had some messed up priorities.

No, this is not a "best ship" thread. Hold your fire.

Look it's a bird, no it's a cow, no it's a Titan!!!! Cargo hauling turning,I'll take a Drom!!!

Stay frosty out there!!! "Check"-Trent

Turning rates:
Titan:60 degrees per second
Dromadary: 50
Humpback: 25

(taken in this forum a long while ago)

I've now tried out both the Titan and the Dromedary, and I honestly couldn't see much difference between them, handling-wise.

Yes, absolutely everything I post, including this, is spam.
Bite me.

Humpback is a ship to fly in turret mode, using goto to reach destinations by setting nav points. It's better off in the civilized systems, where your enemies aren't as likely to have high-level weaponry. If you're a pure trader, choose the humpback.

Dromedary is a better ship for the borderworlds, because it can "turn and burn" much faster than its fat cousin. Because of its larger hold, it is also better for carrying perishables. If you like to pick fights between trade runs, the dromedary is your ship.

Both are relatively equal opposites, and are pretty well balanced. The choice depends on piloting style and situation.

I will aid them when I can...if they give me a percentage of the salvage from whatever they frag along the way. Hell, they were even so kind as to sell me a ship after one of my jobs with them, and I've been flying her ever since. But god help them if someone puts a bounty on THEIR heads, for I don't care who I hunt for, as long as their live capture(or untimely death) can get me enough credits to buy a decent sized mug of my favorite drink."- A Freelance Bounty Hunter.

*Turns of my flamethrower... but holds it prepared... just in case a Xeno should summon*

Well... i think the Drom. is better than the Humpback (whale), because the whale turns like one .
And the Drom. looks cool, too.

*Not a Xeno summoned...huh? I think i saw one, right there. *Runs away* *Flamethrower sound* *comes back, turning of flamthrower* Well, i got ONE *
