Xenos... again

Ok, after having found Ouray Base in Colorado, which turned out to be an excellent hunting ground for Xenos, I hung around for a while. I went in there with 802 kills recorded... and came out with 1038. After having killed 236 Xeno fighters in one battle, I found that my rep with most of the Xeno enemies (basically, just about everybody) hadn't appreciably changed.

Are Xenos not worth much in the Grand Scheme of Things?

I think that it's the law of conservation of animosity. One Xeno is probably worth the same as one let's say Corsair kill, it's just that you have to spread that over all of the factions. It's as if, since there are so many people killing Xeno's, no one really notices who's doing it.

I see what you're saying... if faction A has three enemies, and faction B has 20 enemies, then 3 kills of A would have the same effect of 20 kills of B, no?

That's not the case, as far as I know - you should check empathy.ini in your freelancer/data/missions folder to see how much killing Xenos affects other factions.

EG. if the xenos' rep with you decreases with 0.6 every kill, and a certain faction has a 'rep' towards the Zenos of -0.05000, then killing a xenos would only make their rep increase by 0.03. Not much.

Maybe, it's becouse the enemies of the Xenos are also enemies of eachother, meaning the rep will go up with one faction (lib. police for instance), but will go down with their enemies (Lib Rogues).
But killing Xenos makes the Rogues very happy too, so that in turn makes the Lib. Police unhappy.
It's a never ending story that way.

Its not quite that intricate. If you kill Xenos, the Lib cops will like it, the Rogues will like it, the Outcasts, Junkers, Unioners and Hackers will like it too. It doesn't matter to the cops that the criminals approve of your Xeno killing or vice versa.

Regardless, best way to adjust your rep is through strategic bribery... unless you're trying to become an interstellar outlaw, in that case just shoot up every lawful ship you see. It's cheaper and more fun.

Ever get the feeling... you're standing on plastic?

Anyone ever try to be on hostile terms with EVERYBODY? Well, I guess you'd have to have at LEAST one neutral facton, or you'd never be able to land and save...

You could land and save on two specific planets. Can't tell which, would be a spoiler.

Can't buy equipment there though ...

all in all its soul destroying trying to improve rep by popping xenos
ive been doing some of that the last few days with one of my chars, but after about 80 or so you tend to give up and change chars ,just for a change
methinks my bribe list is going to get used

I just checked the stats - the Xenos are the least effected by killing them. (eg. if you kill someone from the police, the police likes you a lot less, but if you kill a Xenos, your rep barely changes). Add to that that most factions only slightly dislike Xenos, and killing Xenos isn't really effective anymore

Well, I killed over 230 Xenos at once, and I THINK my soul's still intact.... *L*

Tried the Xeno thing as well over the last couple of nights, blew up weapons platforms and ships while they tried to scratch my paintwork (if only fights were this easy in the OMs) ... after a couple of hours I've moved one entire block towards neutral with the rouges and outcasts, half a block with the unionists.... but I have taken onboard a whole load of weapons, bots, bats and commodities which I keep offloading for half decent money and going back again .. not getting far quickly though.......

If you throw enough mud ..some's gonna stick.
