Found a nice tip to avoid a Jump Hole Ambush

Well at least getting any serious damage from one.

I found that if you hit the thruster, kill the engine and then turn to face your attackers, they turn and flee.

This only works as long as you dont target or fire at any of them.

Its also a good way of completing a mission like assassinate or get goods quickly. Fly in, blow up bad guy (or good guy dependeing on who you side with) and reverse engine kill away from the survivors.

Only problem is, sometimes you have to fight a wave of cronies first.

It also works well for the "Delete Large Space Station" missions. Just read the fine print of the mission text carefully - if you are not required to take out any hostile fighters or weapon platforms then you can complete such a mission in just 3 to 4 minutes. Fly to the station, blow it up, and engine-kill your way out of there.

The assassination missions vary a lot. Sometimes you have to remove several waves of cronies, sometimes you get just a single wave of high-level enemies one of which is your target. And sometimes you just fly up to the sun corona and watch your target burn itself up before you head home ... Just don't take any capture or 'fetch stuff' missions in systems like Hudson unless you can verify that the target coordinates are safely outside any celestial bodies.
