Chronological age means nothing! As far as maturity, we're still teenagers.

<< Old enough to remember a ZX81 (now there was a keyboard) >>

My first computer!!! Had a whole 1 kb memory. Did you have that 16 k (or whatever) add on that used to come loose whenever you were typing in programs in basic?

And those games that looked so cool on the box, but when you loaded them always seemed to be white squares on a black background.

lol. Just because I said I think my dad liked Frankie Vaughn doesn't mean that I'm not old! Of course I remember the ZX81! Cheeky so-n-so's...

I was the first person to do "computer science" at my school....and to do it they had to buy me a 7ft x 10ft punch card machine!!! It took 2 days to work out 6+11 and it came out with 611!!! I'm sure it was the way I punched it in that was wrong, but I managed to convince them it was the machine!

When the school first got a BBC B in I thought that I'd died and gone to computer heaven...and when a year later they upgraded to a BBC Master I almost came in my adolescent pants.

Does anyone remember a machine from the 80s called a "Lynx"?? It was long and black and looked very similar to the Amstrad CPCs....it came with an optional turtle.....

LYNX !!!!!!!
i dont remember them as such but a couple of months ago a friend in response to a similar thread said he did
i was silly enough to ask what they were so he raided his attic to dig his out
he assured me it was still boxed (i think hes still looking for it to this day)
pity would have been fun to see if it still worked

god! I swear that would be worth a fortune now! I went to the design museum in london a few months back and they had an exhibition of old computers - with a game to play on each one (very cool blast from the past) - but they didn't have a lynx! I was left trying to tell my mates that I wasn't dillusional, they did actually exist!

I've still got my boxed "Astro Wars" and "Munchman", which scarily still work, but I sold my old computers to pay for each upgrade. Shame really...

Robert Vaughn did play a "Freelancer" once in the excrutiatingly bad film "Battle beyond the Stars"

It may have been a bad movie, but if i remember corr3ectly, Vaughns character flew something that resembled the drake, if not in looks then in size, firepower, and maneuverability...

Gulp ... I still understand Basic! I've got a Spectrum Plus stored away. The touch pad under the keyboard has a few bad spots, but I understand you can still get the pads. Unfortunately, I gave away my ZX81. Still got a 256 kb CPM PC and maybe even a 286 around somewhere. I've read that people are starting to collect the old stuff as "antiques"! If that doesn't make you feel old.

p.s. I remember a friend saying, "I don't think I'll EVER need a hard drive." Oh, well ... (My first HD was 20 meg and I thought it was huge.)

lol. I remember saving up my pennies for a brand new Acorn Archimedes (oh yeah baby, state of the art I'll have you know)....and I was stunned that it had 1Mb of RAM! One whole megabyte!! WOOHOOO! Couldn't afford the optional hard drive though
