EVE sucks.

EVE is good, I did beta, but it seemed buggy everywhere, even up to release. I also dislike having to pay so much in fees.

Massively-multiplayer persistent online games like EVE are drastically different from skill-oriented games like Freelancer. The people who sell these games and run the servers tend to be paid by the month, and so it is their primary interest to keep players in the game as long as possible. That is why they make sure it takes quite a bit of time to get a character really going, and they tend to reward effort (time played: days, weeks, months) above all other things, also extra-curricular efforts like studying the news sheet, web site or whatever. Of course, EVE is special as it is still in development - public, paid-beta if you will.

Contrast this to skill-oriented, arena type games like Freelancer. It does not take more than an afternoon to get a maxed-out VHF with a decent cash reserve for Sunslayers, Rippers and Cannonballs; after that it comes down to skill alone. This is more pronounced in Doom-type games (Quake 1/2/3, UT) or games like Sacrifice, where you always start with a clean slate. There skill is the only thing that matters.

So pick your type of game: reward for skill, or reward for effort (and time/$ spent).

This rank thing reminds me of a reward for time spent, not skill.
It should be based also on whether the posts are actually useful as well as how many one has posted.
This system encourages spam like hell.

The titan doesn't fly like just any cow. It flies like a bloated, legless, old, sick, dying one.
