Deeep Spaaaaace...

Has anyone tried to find out what happens if you start flying out into nothing and not stiop? Does the computer let you fly out forever, or do you hit the heavens-box, or what?

yeah, and once you get so far off of the map a little red arrow pops up on the nav map that means you are higher/lower than the nav map

Though you could simple edit your thruster to give you like 999999 power with 0 drain and then line yourself up and go *ZIP*.

I tried it to see if I would find anything. I just kept going, but the red arrow indicated I wasn't getting anywhere. I thought I should at least fall off the edge of the universe or something.

Puke: You mean the universe is not flat?

wonder if you would eventually get to another system

They descused that in a interview; no it is not possible to travel between systems without a jump gate or hole.

The jump gate/hole acts as a triggering device to load the new system. If you look closly when it fades to white, you can see a 'loading' bar. That is when the new universe is loaded.

What i don't get is that when you come through the other side, you are outside and of to the side of the jumpgate rather than in the middle. Why is that?

the jump gates are one way. they leead to roughly the same area as their doppleganger but not to each other. if they did, you would run smack into a transport or cargo vessle.

Actually, in MP mode, you can only get 500,000m away from the system before you blow up and get the chance to respawn, though I think it's only with the 1.1 patch.

actually i have tried, least in MP.

i had 10k crusie mod (the real one, not some cruise mod that is claimed to be 10k this one you cant control)

What always bugs me is that when you come out on the other side of a jump hole, your engine is off (speed = zero) ... plus you have no control over your ship. Since you are usually attacked immediately by 6 to 8 bad guys, it's a pain in the tail pipe to be jabbing the space bar and "w" key as fast as you can trying not to get blown up before you can move! The first time I jumped into the Outcast's system when I was friendly with the Corsairs was a rude awakening. I didn't even know what hit me.
