We Need a Scoring Dogfight Mod

Hi,

Someone posted a message claiming that the Titan was the best ship. I would like a modder to think about developing the following: A scoring dogfight mod.

In this server mod, a player chooses a dofight time limit and equips two ships, and awaits another player to select one of the two ships. This will incentivise the first player to balance the two ships as closely as possible, and yet allows them to offer a handicap.

The server would keep track of total damage, max unreplied damage, and time to "kills" against lessor shields. The dogfight ends at kill or at the time limit. If noone gets killed by the time limit, who ever has the "kill" against the highest shield class in the least time may consider themselves the victor if they want. Hopefully, both parties emerge as better pilots.

I would put up an Eagle against a comparably equiped Titan or Sabre any day against any pilot. There is a historical analogy: Japanese Zero vs. American Corsair. The only way a Corsair could beat a Zero was by using it's superior speed to make lethal flybys before the zeros could engage it in dogfights with it's superior manuverability. If a Titan and an Eagle were equipped with their maximum number of max class weapons, the Titan pilot would need to make the kill on the first pass, as it is no faster than an Eagle to get away for a second or subsequent pass. I doubt this could be done against even level 9 shields.

Anyway, create the mod and let's find out!

This would have to be a whole new game sorry to say. It is a bit to big and has to much musing with freelancers. For one we weould need to add new features to freelancers which would be very hard

The engagements between Corsairs and Zero were the equivalent of Titan vs Eagle, both with Level 3 shields.

"The F4U Corsair was a big brute of a fighter aircraft. It possessed a massive, powerful engine and a sturdy airframe. This weight, of course, took a toll on its maneuverability, and it also had a poor climb rate. Used both by the Marines from the ground, and Navy from carriers, the Corsair excelled in the fighter-bomber role. Experienced pilots, like Major Gregory "Pappy" Boyington, used it very effectively as a fighter as well, even though the Japanese Zero could fly circles around it. Power was the name of the game for the F4U. It lasted through the Korean War, and was last used by the French in 1964. Its air combat kill ratio is unparalleled at better than 11:1. Corsairs during World War Two were responsible for downing 2,140 enemy aircraft for the loss of only 189."

sounds good, but I think it would be difficult to actually apply. Might have to resort to the old fashioned method: having a third party tally up the deaths. Try the dev board, they may have some better idea as to how to do it.

i don't care what kinda stats you have or test you do you can have a drunken blind monkey with both hand tied behind his back kill 100 titens in an eagle and some one is gona say its better then the eagle and vise versa

oh yea and using blow darts for the wepon and banana peals for mines (can't for get bananas)
