Anyone stuck at lvl 8 ever get out of it?

I'm stuck at level 8. I've read the boards for others stuck at level 8 and the symptoms all seem the same -- no matter how much cash they make they stay at level 8 (some guy had over 200k credits he'd earned and still needed the 61k or so the display read).

Everyone says just do more missions and make more money.. but has anyone that was stuck at level 8 ever gotten out of it? I havent' read of anyone that had said they were stuck coming back to say it finally let them proceed.

(Anyway you slice it this is a bug -- just wondering how bad a bug it is before I waste too much time flying around stuck on this level.)

Right now I have a networth of 100ksh with 61k needed to level and I have over 61k in free credits.

Also, interestingly enough, I don't remember seeing any of these posts before the patch.

Are you using a mod? That can mess up the unmodded game.

I've played through the SP game 5 times and I've only run into this bug once. So I don't know if this solution works always, but it worked the one time I was stuck.

What I did was mounted a missile launcher that fired the most expensive missiles availible at the time. I bought a bunch of missiles then went out and just fired them into space until my net worth dropped back below the requirement. Then I did a mission or two to meet the requirement a second time and I leveled up.

Since the bug hasn't occured a second time, I can't say for sure that this is a sure fire solution but I hope it helps!

The buy sell tactic seems to work the best. just buy something expensive and sell it at the same place.
