Odd stuff from Freelancer 8or boring thoughts between lanes.

While zipping along in a line, some random thoughts hit (hard...):

- what happens to all the loot we can't pick up? is there a cosmic janitor that comes after and cleans up? or does it just float around, ramming the ocasional passerby?

- why can't we buy escape pods, like in elite? is this a kamikaze game?

- cargo only? what, no one travels as passengers? or are they hidden inside the cargo canisters?

- if we need gates to travel between systems, who placed the gate in the system? and how?

Any other idle thoughts? (and yes, I have been playing too long non-stop...)

hmm. my theory about the jump gates is that theres a contraption built OVER the existing jump hole.

But I have a few questions.
Isn't the sun about 1 million times the size of the earth?
and don't things ORBIT around suns? How can there be trade lanes?

Have you ever noticed that everyone is part of a faction?! Like you said, there are no passengers... I would love to talk to tourists on a Spa and Cruise ship. I don't care about Britonian Police officers that are stationed there.

Maybe Ageira uses a jumphole first to get to a system, and then builds a jumpgate there.

And what's up with Manhattan? It must have the largest city ever, but Trent always hangs out in the same bar! Is he hoping to meet Juni again? Or is there only ONE bar on a planet with 220 million people?

Outcast always say the can't find Falkland Base in Tau-37, but I have seen Outcasts fighting with IMG ships, just outside Falkland Base. They know how to find it.

Is this what you had in mind for this topic, or am I just ranting?

Do we really need to bring up a topic like this again?
Please, go back to freelancing, or put the game aside if you can't get over it.

The cargo we can't pick up? Somebody else must. I got a bit ticked off when I blasted a Red Hessian, who dropped some Niobium. When I blasted his comrades, I went back to get the Niobium -- and it was gone! There were bounty hunters around, so I presume one of the buggers sucked it up himself.

p.s. Where did all the people come from??? How many were on those sleeper ships -- with hundreds of million 8 centuries later? Did they clone people or just shag their brains out?

I seem to remember a rumor in a bar, maybe Detroit Munitions that's controlled by Aegira Tech. They said they built the gates based on technology found by studying the alien artifacts.

I agree mostly, but you don't NEED jumpgates to get between systems, how do you think sleeper ships found there way to Sirius? And I would rather die than be in some blasted escape pod without my ship and have to buy a new one. As for only one bar, the entire game is unrealistic that way, and everything is out of proportion. Only in Freelancer can one be 8 kilometers from a big blazing sun and be perfectly fine.

(dunno if this is really a spoiler) Puke well there were 5 The 4 house. The US, The Brits, The Japanese, and The Germans. Also The Hipania Which stands for hispanic. the game uses know facts for names such as rhienland is a part of germany. also the were 3 Sleeper ships lost before they could make it to warp(or whatever the use for faster than light travel) now they were put in statis either that or it was a short trip (highly unlikely even at faster than light If they were faster than light travel of just some warp tech). number of people well way more than a million the were probaly at least say 75 million at least since the statis chamber or whatever they were were compact they could of just put em on top of each other if they wanted to.

I'd like to see another house. Maybe Oceania. I'd like to see Aussies and Aborigonies.

There is a system at the north end of the map where there is a jump gate under construction, and several trade lanes under construction too.

Oooo, pretty....what do we blow up first?

Post Fri Jul 18, 2003 9:28 pm

Can it be the Hokkaido system constructing a jumpgate to the Chugoku system?
