More capital ships in the game after the campaign. High level missions against capital ships.

Have Trent's action's have a greater effect on the universe. For instance, i've probably shot down 500 Red Hessian fighters and destroyed at least 25 of their starbases. I'd like to see them respond to this, either sending out Bounty Hunters after me, or their influence in Rhineland becoming weaker due to the massive losses I've inflicted upon them. Perhaps after giving them a serious enough beating, they could even come towards you with an offer of a Non-Aggression Pact, where they pay you to leave them alone, and in return, they go from Hostile to Neutral.

A kill list that lists starbases, capital ships (not just battleships) and lists your kills by faction.

Something that I think would be helpful for new players.

A better explanation of the types of shields and weapons, and who uses what.

For instance, say I'm friendly with the Corsairs, but hostile with the Red Hessians.

I'm thinking about buying a Graviton Vs Molecular shield and some new weapons.

You could either bribe or find out through experience, that when you go to purchase a weapon, it would say "This weapon is tough against X shield & weakest against Y shields. X shields are commonly used by these Factions, A, B, & C, while Y shields are used by C, D, & E."

Same thing for shields.

Tougher enemies based on levels, not just systems. I'm at level 35 and flying a Titan. I hate having to fly all the way from the New York System to Omicron Gamma just to get some worthwhile missions.

More variety in the Job Board missions.

Perhaps be able to open your own starbase. You would get monthly revenue from docking fees, commissions on equipment and commodity sales, and sales from the bar.

You would also have to outfit the starbase with turrents, and perhaps pay a faction for protection. You could also choose whether to make it a safe haven for honest traders, or a pirate hideaway, and perhaps offer Cardamine sales. You could also use your starbase to store extra fighters, or begin your own trading company. You would have to purchase Freighters, outfit them with turrets, and perhaps escort ships, and then send them on their merry AI way, and collect a percentage.

Sometimes, they would have problems with Lane Hackers in certain systems, which would require you to fly out and clear them out personally.

Perhaps be able to order the construction of your own Trade Lanes and Jump Gates, especially in the Uncharted Worlds, which would be nice instead of having to cruise around the Border Worlds at 300 kts all the time.

You would have to purchase the Trade Lane parts, and perhaps protect the crew installing them from attacks by pirates.

A better intimidation and Hail system. I'm constantly harrassed by a handful of Liberty Rogues in Starfliers, while I'm in a Titan with level 10 guns.

Also, be able to ask pilots for directions. Say you just jumped into an Uncharted System. You see a guy flying by, and you can Hail him to ask"Hey, where's the nearest starbase or jump hole?"

Hints to where starbases & jump holes in uncharted systems are. Like, "your sensors pick up a trail of Cruise Engine particles heading towards sector D4."

Improved Cargo Hold. Like, you could have a refrigeratored Cargo Hold that would keep Luxury Food & Alien Organisms from pershing so quickly. Or a Smuggler's Cargo Hold that would block scans by Police. Maybe external cargo pods for carrying extra commodities.

A readout on your ship's total capabilities. For instance "your total guns do a combined Shield Damage of X and a combined Hull damage of Y, with a Power Drain of Z."

Improved Cruise Engines, that would allow you to fly faster. Flying around uncharted systems without trade lanes at 300kts gets rather tedious after awhile.

More alien races, not all of them hostile.

I know a lot of these are probably unworkable, but I thought I'd throw them out for you guys to chew on.

How about Vice City in Space.

The engine and the map are fine its just the missions get very repetative.

Escort missions, Courier missions, taxi type missions for starters would expand the game to a better level.

Communicate with other ships wing commander style, break and attack, form on my wing etc etc etc. How about maydays being broadcasted by escorts or transports and you could chose to dive in and help out. Imagine opening a channel to the ship under attack, "Do you need help?" or the option to help the pirates if you so chose.

Cash for killing pirates

Choice of things to say when commincating with other people in the bars.

This would be my idea of perfection, just adding more things to do would keep this game alive for years.

Once you have been around the map a few times and made it out of the border worlds alive, whats left to do? the same old "Go to this location and kill everything" mission gets dull.

how about ppl accept theres not going to be an Official Expansion/Second Patch{and so stop digging up threads on it}. So after all this time with no info from DA I ask you a question.

Do any FL beta testers know of Anyone that has been approached to beta a patch/expansion?

I think Pinger is right. I thought even as I played the game in the first few days that, much as I enjoyed it, and still do, there will never be a sequel or add-on from Microsoft/DA. The market is just a bit too niche, they spent too long and too much wodge on the game as it is and it still wasn't right, MS put it out because they'd decided enough was enough. That's why we got a half finished game. FLs future is with the modders.

Personally I think it's a crying shame, i'd love to see the SL/FL universe continue like WC did, but just step back from being fans and put your hard business heads on. If you were a MS exec would you push for development time and money for a game that almost certainly would never recoup what had been spent on it?

I'm not a programmer but I do work for a software development house and we have to make decisions like this all the time. It just is not going to happen. Does anyone know if FL has shown a profit yet or not, and if not, is it likely too?

Space sims have been on their knees for a long time now, I really hoped FL would kick start the whole genre again and herald a return to the halcyon days of WC and Priv, but once I started playing the game I knew that was not going to be. If it wasn't for mods like Rebalance, I'd have stopped playing it about 3 weeks after I'd finished the SP campaign. I'm sorry to have to say it but there it is.

..you think you're done with the past; but the past isn't done with you..

Sorry if I dragged the topic open again but I am new here and this topic came up in a search.

I would think that they would want to put out an expansion. The engine is developed. The universe is developed, the basic premise of the game is set.
The only thing you really need is a new or continued story. They probably have a chunk of storyline that they left out of the original plot. So the cost of development should not be even close to a full game. With all the suggestions
about more of this and more of that, I know that if they just added a new storyline and a couple of other goodies, we'd all still buy an expansion.
Just my humble opinion.

How about the ability to post a bounty on another player? You could post a credit bond on the server, and it would go to the first person who completes the mission.

This might help control the PK bullies.

Hi all,
Hmm does anyone play anything, or anyother RPS type games. As for personalization, all they have to code in is the NPC's in the game to access your name to put in any place where TRENT is "see EQ". Bar interactive area, avitars with your name over them and a chat room like scroll down on the side. More missions, this could be set from server side right now, see "Elites" deputies for a nice concept. Try interdiction of an area where say only Brites can move through Brit space without a "Tax" on them. Use rules say Priveteers can have Hawk or Eagle ships with no mods and no attacking when just exiting or entering docking areas, no attacks without warning, IE: You are entering a restricted are please pay toll, No, boom attack. Modding ships, "sigh" look at some other games for good ideas, as in "STARS" for really how a ship should be setup to make each one unique. Another good idea is in group notes to each other that are hotkeyed. once again see "EQ" for a really nice way to do this RE: "XXX is rolling in hot" when all you have to do is say hit "shift 1" one. Please note that though I havent coded in a while these ideas really shouldnt take alot of coding, and I would pay $20 or so U.S. for em, these would vastly personalize and make the game more fun without alot of coding.

Considering that most of the sofware stores in the large city where I live can not keep the game on its shelves, MS should be making a nice return in the money they invested on FL. In my opinion common business sense will eventually give DA and MS the motivation to make at least one or more FL games like the WC series. When WC was first introduced these very same things were said by the gaming community, I admitt is to early to tell the future of FL but it sure has had a good start.
