TOO MANY MODS

As usual whenever I become involved in a game and I try to get the best MODs and such for it, I have no idea which ones work and look really good and which ones down right suck. Of course this site's rating system isn't much help being almost everything has a 4 or 5.

What I'm looking for really is(are) cool looking ships, that looks good doing more then just flying in space, that also actually fit on the landing platform, get through the docking rings, and has a little picture and acurate description when you buy it.

This is the standard I wish to download because that way it blends seemlessly with the game, like it belongs there, not something that has MOD written all over it.

The problem with downloading MODs is that I don't have the time or the patience to check every single one, and find the ones I like the best, especially considering so many conflict and you need to remove one and add then the other also taking into effect that I have to start from the beginning with no money everytime I want to try out a new MOD or take out an old one.

So if anyone can help me out by telling me a cool, "powerful" (better armor, shield ratings then the titan, but not overally uber to the point where in a million years a fleet of a thousand ships could not take it down, you know what I mean : ~ ) . ) I would be most appreciative.

I like the rebalance Mod the best. I separates the powerplant for weapons from the powerplant for engines and gives several levels of each. It also intergrates many of the other mods into it.

I know what you mean about restarting to use different mods, I've done that many many times.

Are you using fl mod manager? It applies/removes a mod quick. I'd recommend the kusari gunboat for a ship for you to try...

Yes, I am using the Mod Manager, it still doesn't make it any easier to try out new MODs, cause the game starts over every single time. This is very frustrating. And the kind of ship I'm looking for would really be one that is a step up from the Titan (maybe has those Adv. Champion shields that you aren't able to buy on it too, or something even better).

Cemike is right - try the Rebalance mod (v. 2.01) - it's the best mod so far. Even if it's collection of ships is way too much eclectic, and some of them are pure nonsense (ships from Elite with their primitive forms, dropship from Aliens as heavy freighter, FedEx truck and so on).

Thanks, I'll try that. People can keep posting their favorite ship MODs and why if they like also.

By the way, I was also wondering if any MODs actually added in the Adv. Champion shield as something that drops or can be bought, especially since it is in the orginal game I think someone should make a way for it to be gotten.

yes... the high level outcasts on the rebalance mod do drop lev9 and 10 graviton shields... though only occasionally . you have to work for em!

Ah, speaking of the Rebalance Mod, which I have been using, it still is not very balanced is it? lol The prices are outrageous for the weakest ships in the beginning and you start off with a better ship then you buy half the time. For example, the ship it lets you start off with can be uprgaded and eventually makes a much better ship then say the TIE Fighter, which I spent $100,000 on!!!!

I'll give you a mod name you definately should not download then.

Hostile Universe.
Ita 3.3meg mod with lot in it. I keep it optimised you see. Bandwidth costs cash.

Its my mod so no flames will start here

All the players who use my mod like it because its harder than the rest yet remains ballanced. The sort of player that likes a real challenge are the sort of players who usually enjoys Hostile Universe. I would not recommend it to anybody else though.

I have some quick but dangerous runs to get noobs cash early but you really have to explore to find them. Its all about exploring the universe for your selve.
