I personally think it would have been much better had that guy lived, he looked really cool and all. (I'm hoping that TheJKWhoSaysNi's character mod in time includes this guy, I'd use him for the main char. If anyone feels like telling me how before then please e-mail me, though the end of my email should be .net)

If you think about it, that guy who shoots the 2nd to the last FP7 survivor could kind of be like MS shutting down the rest of the storyline, ya know.

Maybe he's a person that is taken over by the Nomads. Tekagi (from the story) could makes his eyes glow...
Quote from triple helix

If he was taken over by the nomads, they wouldn't have killed him to try and get the artifact. And he wouldn't have tried to sell it, he would've given it to his nomad boss and we would be **** right now

There are many reasons why te story had to be revamped. One was that the intro was made before there was really any story. A bit backwards... But anyway, and fighthing an alien menace which could destroy star-systems is not that much fun...

yeah. And I also noticed that in the original intro, Atticus Rockford flew to Sirius in his little ship and arrived clearly not long after the Sleeper Ships arrived. How did he do this? If the interstellar jorney to Sirius was so long that the colonists had to be put into hibernation, then how did Rockford make it? A cryopod in his ship (nope don't think so) or maybe he held his breath? For you do see his ship arrive and as narrator he says "I alone was spared.."

The journey must certainly have taken several years, obv. that's why they were "Sleeper" ships, also we know that the Rhineland officers came out of hibernation 2 years early so that they could find a good spot. Also in SL jumps aren't interstellar they are insystem so obv. technology wasn't advanced enough for FTL interstellar travel, and Alliance jump technology wasn't as advanced as the Coalitions (never made sense to me that..) Besides, Sirius is 8 light yrs away from Sol (so how can they do interstellar jumps in FL and not get back to Sol space?) for in the released intro the narrator (not identified as Rockford this time) does state Sirius system and NOT Sirius sector, as has been claimed. So presumably he must mean that big star sevral degrees to the south-east of Orion.

Shame really because it is a wonderful intro, but full of inconsistencies. You can see why it was cut, 'though.

Suits the game.

also we know that the Rhineland officers came out of hibernation 2 years early so that they could find a good spot

I read on the FL homepage that Liberty was the first to arive in Sirius, that's why they have a headstart in technolagy.
Rheinland and Kusari arrived short after each other, maybe even at the same time. and due to tech.probs. Brittonia arrived last of the four houses.
We all know about the Hispania.

so how can they do interstellar jumps in FL and not get back to Sol space?

I think they don't want to. After all, they fled from that place after they lost the war. And after a while they just forgot or lost interrest. They're to busy with their own problems.
Anyway, going back to Sol AND fighting Nomads would make the game to complex IMHO.

And finaly, what is the difference between Sector and System? I thought it was just a matter of speech.

Post Wed Aug 13, 2003 10:49 pm

Nickless, I think the difference is that system refers to a set of stellar bodies (suns) with satellites (planets) whereas sector is an arbitrary distinction of an area of space which may or may not have any particular relationship with the bodiy it is named after.

so Sirius sytem would refer to the star and its planets and other satellites/features, whereas Sirius sector would refer to the area of space around the system which may contain other systems. OR it might just refer to the area of space around the star as seen from earth but I don't know for sure, you'd have to ask an astronomer!

..you think you're done with the past; but the past isn't done with you..

Ok, that's a fair explanation

The game is full of inconsistencies.
Like the size of planets/stations
The size of space between them
The game physics are inaccurate
Macrospace geography is 2D, not 3D
Trent says he took a couple weeks to reach the tau systems if you read his journal, but you can get anywhere in a couple of hours

But if the game was completely accurate on every point, it would probably suck.

The last word is mine. Always.

but I am Spartacus

Post Thu Aug 14, 2003 5:51 pm

Another inconsistency: Trent comes from Bretonia but has an American accent. Well, I suppose it would be weird if the main character had a cockney accent and kept saying to guys in bars 'Wotcha, mate! Got anything!' and 'Sorry, guv'nor; nuthin' doin.'.

Post Thu Aug 14, 2003 7:02 pm

Having followed the development of the game closely,I'd have to say that was an early iteration of the character Trent & the red-head being Juni.In-fact the earliest known Trent was the character look alike known as Walker.

Also if many wonder why some say that the original content of Freelancer was much cooler then you're probably new the Freelancer universe.Check out some of the earlier vid. files or the early interviews by Chris himself to know the 411.

This is from the deleted cutscene you can get on the bonus DVD that comes with the Freelancer soundtrack CD. The thief is holding the artifact in one hand while getting ready to throw a grenade (the glowing thing). Right after this, he escapes past Dr. Sinclair to his ship.

"Causes come and go. I'll just keep freelancing, if it's all the same to you."

Post Tue Jan 27, 2004 7:08 pm

the thief?
no wonder it was deleted!!
the thief got killed b4 we knew sinclair

y would u want the freelancer soundtrack cd anyway?
all the music is in the game...if u want a cd burn..then burn it on a cd

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?
its in the way
