Ta very much, BTW I have a Crusader heavy fighter, Heavy thrusters, Class 3 Shield, 4 x Angeliko guns 1 x sweeper sissile and 1 x something class 4 that matches the Angelikos for shot velocity. About 150K in the bank and after some soothesaying I am waiting for Mission 5 to start.

Presumably my level should have gone up when my current worth reached 58K not when my bank balance got to 58K, just outta curiosity?

I did do a search on these forums and found many ppl (mostly who had already completed the story missions) who got stuck on a level and were advised to buy/sell stuff so I'll give that a go... Presumably I do actually need to make a profit on these deals?

I had this problem a lot recently. Upon starting up a new game i had all sorts of skipping problems, where the characters would say things when they had to, and Juni wouldnt call me, etc. The only solution to it i found is to re-load autosaves.

But if your trying to decrease your net worth, buy a full cargo hold full of the most expensive thing you can find, and then just jettison it into space. Buying guns wont help because it still includes that in your net worth, for the original purchase price.

Buying guns can help since everything is counted at resale value for calculating net worth. 30% of purchase price for equipment (including guns), 80% for ship hulls and 100% for ammo. Commodities are counted at a fixed 'nominal price' that can be lower or higher than the actual price the commodity fetches at your current location. You can see the nominal price in-game - it is the price a commodity fetches at a base that does not trade this commodity (this can be higher than the price at a nearby base that does trade this commodity!).

From what I've seen the 'stuck-level' bug has only hit people who applied the server patch to their game, and there seems to be no reliable way to get the game unstuck until the patch has been removed by doing a clean install (remember to back up all your savegames and the multiplayer id). After reinstalling load the latest savegame and do a trade transaction or fly a mission.

Sherlog is correct. If you have applied the patch then re-install FL. You don't need to go thru the hassel of uninstalling, just re-install and make sure you back-up your saved games. You are given the option to delete them but just to be safe.

I had the same problem and it was at level 8. As soon as you have re-installed, just buy something, a commodity is what I did, and you should level up. No problems with the game after that.

The patch is only for people who are running servers anyhow.
