Freelancer too easy?

Is it just me or is Freelancer a pretty easy game with too few challenges?
I played it with a friend by LAN and it was a nice weekend but no more.
I have not tested any of the mods on this page. Which mods make the game last longer and make it more difficult and challenging?
Another issue is that the game seems to want to keep the player uninformed. Why for instance cant you see the maneuverability of your ship - you always have to guess. Is there some infosheet (probably made by fans) which have the information the game doesnt want to give?

If you put the rebalance mod on and play it through again you might get a supprise.

Try playing the story line game through with a low level ship, say a Patriot, and see how easy the later missions are. You can make the game as hard or easy as you want just by choosing different ships!

That is a down side in freelancer the first few misions are harder than the end end missions but i finished with the anubis and that a VHF!!!

Just cuse its a VHF doesn't make the missions harder. In fact, I think it makes the end missions easier. Take example mission 13 (the last one), ur objective is to take out the immovable power generators, not the fighters. Also, the anubis has a turret; to keep those pesky nomads off ur tail.

I found it kinda challenging by just playing it all the way through and basically living off Juni's money and the little I made in between story missions... as soon as Juni called off I went...
