Ithica?

Im playing on the demo disk (Im getting the real game in a week or so) and I finished Juni's mission. I was flying around and found a trade lane to Ithica research base. I took it, but when I came out of the trade lane, there were about 7 pirates attacking. I was only able to get out alive by entering the trade lane again. Im pretty sure the trade lane was not disrupted. Was that supposed to happen? Is there anything there of any interest? Thanks

Yeah, there is a base there called "Ithca reaserch station" (Which you cant land on) and a jump gate to magellan, although they're not right next to the tradelane.

Isn't Ithaca an abandoned research station? It plays a part in the game. (If I'm remembering the right base.) You can't land on it in the game ... until you have reached the mission involving it.

its not in a mission either, thats Bredford (OR something) station.

cept theres not much there, like when i landed on an asteroid miner... dark...just dark (not exactly, i think its justa cinematic)

no it isn't that reascher stasion that plays a part in the story. There is also a secound base there, but good luck finding it with out dieing. Alos the orders bases is there, or one of them. Good luck on finding that one two. If you with the navy the rouges will get ya. If your with the rouges the navy will get ya in the badlands

Ithica is the station from the story. Badlands, Magellan jump point, suicidal doctor, the works. If you look closly at Ithica then you can see that the station is not whole (after the mission). There are pieces missing and looks as if some kid used Paint and erased sections of the station.

I've been to Itchata before mission 4 (escape from Lib.space).
All you find there is Outcasts, Lib. Rogues and more scum...

I can take on 12 outcast in the badlandes using a dagger 2 adv.scorps 2 pyros type 1's and a dragon turret

It's not that hard surviving out there... at least in a Dagger or Patriot.

Ithaca doesn't play a role even in the SP missions, that's Benford station you go to. Does Benford exist outside the mission? I haven't been able to find it.

And also, can you really land on asteroid miners?

No, you can't dock an astroidminer, though I read a post somewhere that there is one miner you can dock on.
It was in a thread about profitable traderoutes. He sugested docking with a miner an buying stuff there, but like I said, I don't remember wich one it is.
