what do they do?

They stop u from getting hit by missiles (not mines) Use them highly against cruise disruptors when u want to get away from the action

The best countermeasure is the Advanced one, has a 90% accuracy of attracting missiles to it.

Countermeasure Flares are cheap, try to keep ur flares at 50.

Definitely use them against cruise disruptors; after all, all your countermeasures are less expensive than the cost of repair after you've been cruise-disrupted.
