Need basic help

After I kill people, I keep getting their weapons, but I can't equip them. No matter what I do, I just can't. I can however sell them and buy them back. WTF? How do I just equip them? Does anybody know, can't somebody help me with this basic information?

P.S. Also, after I sell my old lazers, the equipped icon (in the top left corner) shows the new item (the one I'm trying to equip) as being unlocked and not connected. How do I connect it?

Click on it.... (the little blue icon in the top left of the gun pic that is)

Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.

First, make sure that your ship can handle the weapon's level,and make sure you have open hard points for each weapon you would like to equip as well (I.E.: sell or unequip a current weapon)
