First off: Fighting Corsairs is just WRONG !!

Corsairs use angelito's and salamanca's, wich are both neutron based weapons.
Neutron based weapons work best against molecular shields and worst against positron shields..

So get a positron shield! Level 9 Brigandine is the one you want.

But if you really must choose between lv8 graviton and lv9 molocular:

lv8 graviton = 5890 shieldstrenght (adv. Protector)
lv9 molecular = 6050 shieldstrenght (Barrier)

Now.. their weapons work 20% better against the lv9 mol shields then they would against graviton shields so:

molecular: 120 % damage with corsair weapons
graviton: 100% damage with corsair weapons
positron: 80% damage with corsair weapons

6050 = 120%(damage 100% + 20% extra)

So.. minus that 20% = 5042 is what your molecular shieldstrenght really is against corsair weapons

So I thing you'd better use the graviton lv8 ones as they give you:
6050 - 5042 = 1008 more shieldstrenght against corsair weapons...

Note: Corsairs also use missiles.. Off course this I can't include in the calculation.

if you want cash fast and are a skilled pilot you should do missions for the corsairs, but a class 10 h-f shield is worse (the one you get from crete) against bounty hunters bevause of thier weapon type.

long answer short dont fight corsairs because they are superior pilots and they have powerful ships, in the game you will allways be running from corsairs

So if you're gonna use it to fight Corsairs, it seems the only place to go is Malta.

I hate corsairs and there a pain to get rid of so take care when fighting these beasts but just use a eagle and you will be fine!!!

corsair and outcast must be make peace, before the houses founded the corsair the corsair and outcast had peace, but sinse cryer had a base nearby the edge-nebula the relation between thus 2 is drematic low (war-time, if so, we will know in a new game, or upgrade for freelancer)
