I use cockpit view when I'm fighting. And I still use it when I'm traveling, except that I use the turret view to look around, so it does not matter.

I use external view which is a departure for me, but I like being able to see what angle I'm getting shot at from. And for some reason I love watching my guns move around on their pivots to follow the cursor.
