finish the game with a Dagger?

Well I've read several posts were peeps say they did this. Thought they were full of it, but I'm 2 missions from the end now and really think this may be possible.
Was unsure on the mission to get the power cell cause of the time limit, but finally got by it. Thinking of tryn in the starflyer what do you think?

Beating the game in a Patriot is even easier than using the Dagger (just try it, I know this because I did both) but the Starflier is a tad more difficult. I think it should be possible since the Starflier is only a little bit worse than the Patriot and moves much better than the Dagger. The worst thing is when there are lots of missiles flying about because if the Starflier gets hit by a missile better than a Slingshot when the shield is down then it is toast. Enemies that use their rear turrets are also a PITA, because normally you expect your shield to regenerate when you are at the six of your target and the shield of the Starflier cannot absorb much fire.

The Patriot seems only a little better than the other ships when you look at the stats, but it actually flies/feels much different. In a Patriot you are the hunter, in a Starflier/Dagger you are the prey ...

P.S.: forgot the weapon loadout. I used Xeno guns on Starflier/Patriot and Liberty plasma guns on the Dagger (but Xeno guns would have been better); on all ships I used the cheapest homing mines except for the last couple of missions where I used the best mines that were available, for bombarding slow-moving or stationary targets. I considered using missiles but after doing the math I stuck to guns; missile storage capacity is limited and so the missiles would last only for a small portion of a mission.

to sherlog, how did you get passed the nomad power cell collection mission without missels or torps, or maybe I'm not that good...............as i thought i was.

You can use mines to help with the stationary targets like shield generators, just drop them when you're close and they home in nicely.

ooooooooohhhhhhhhh......tried it once but my mines kept getting me so didn't really try after that thanks guys, I'll keep a log off the starflier when I start it in about 2-3 days.

I agree with Circumcisor - mines are poor man's torpedoes (in a fashion). But you definitely don't want to be too close to the target if you drop high-powered mines at it, at least if are flying a Starflier or Patriot.

And, as I said, I used Xeno guns and Liberty plasma guns which have the same better than average energy efficiency (Xeno guns are much more fun, though).

I'm currently going thru in a patriot. I've already made it past tegakies arch mission and it was easier than when I used a baracuda..lol

I'm currently using 4 lavablade markIIIs.

I agree with using the patriot, it does provide better armor against the numerous mines that fly about

psi_op, it is possible to beat the game in a Starflier (see screenie in the thread Has anyone beat SP in a light fighter?).

I found it easier than in a Dagger but that may be due to the fact that I learned a lot beating the game in a Dagger and in a Patriot. But doing it in the Starflier did teach me quite a few things that the Dagger/Patriot runs did not ...
