The trick to harvesting transports is not to kill them. Sure the houses get angry at you but a quick relog sets them back to friendly or neut status.

Shoot everything that moves (inside an astroidfield, the small moving rocks). If it doesn't shoot back, you can mine it.
If it shoots back, kill it and then tractor any loot...

hey no spoilers here please this is the disscussion room. but i can tell you that all four of the field in dublin contain gold.
3 of the fields though are "owned" by several factions, so its a good idea to only mine in the independant field. otherwise you WILL get shot at by the mollys launching from one of their bases in the middle of the field. or the BMM from their base (there they "might" sell cheap gold) (TINY SPOILER)!!!!!!!!

I vote for copper in Colorado. It's close when you are getting started, and the station that pays the highest price for copper just happens to be in the same system. It is a great way to get started making money in the game.

I agree with Holliday...Tau-37's Malvinas field is freakin' insane. Who cares about the Saber patrols, THERE'S FREE FRICKIN' NIOBIUM JUST FLOATING AROUND!!!
