LOL?or not lol?

i buy a dromedary go to newberlin and buy 250 diamonds i suddenly jump from level 19 to level 22 for buying it????

usually you level up once youve sold it and got the money

I seen this too. Maybe it predicts profit based on the highest $ you've seen so far?
If you've been to New Tokyo, say, it calculates that $ but if you sell it elsewhere for less,
your level is adjusted?

I think it bases the worth of your cargo on the average price of that commodity across the whole sector.

It is possible to buy a load of cheap hand weapons in new york when you havnt seen and good prices for them and have your net worth go up.

Similarly tho if you scoop a load of cargo and your net worth goes up, but you sell it cheap to free up space for more loot, your net worth will go down.

my level goes up when i buy AND when i sell

I think it's based on maximum sale value. If you buy a load of diamonds in Rhineland, and you have been to New Tokyo, it will give you the benefit of the doubt and figure their best sale price into your total worth.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

The game uses the nominal value of your cargo for net worth calculation.

If you buy cheaply - that is, at less then nominal price - then your levels jump up because the game overestimates the value of the goods. If you sell for a price above nominal then your level jumps up too, because the game had underestimated the true worth of your cargo.

Conversely, if you buy above nominal and/or sell below than your levels are apt to go down.

You can see the nominal price in-game: it is the price a commodity fetches at stations that do not trade in that commodity, e.g. $280 for Silver. FL DataStorm should show it too (I don't know whether it does but I know that it should do so ).

ya know that almost any item in the game can be bought and sold for a good profit if your willin to the distance, but as to the post yes it dose happen, sometimes even when you sell ship items your level will go up and its just the way it is. not sure why this bothers you though.

Stand back I don't know how big it gets.
