Great expansion idea...

I would LOVE to have a cloaking device in the expansion(if there ever is one).
Did any of you play wing commander 4 and get the dragon ship with the sweet cloaking, it was absolutely awesome. I know the rhienland had cloaking, but we the people need it.

Some of you may say this is typical but, in some area's of the game there should/could be FPS style, ie, when invading tekagi's base

But your right, i think a cloaking device would be a great idea, although it might make pirating hard

the clocking device wouldent make a fun game, because then every train and ship would use it, i say we should have a cloak like the one on nemisis, but not perfict

I dont like the cloaking idea really......

Whats the point when everyone will be using one? Or will we just start shooting in random directions hoping we hit someone/something?

But if there is going to be one, then have some limitations.

No cloak in cruise
Weapons and shields disabled while cloaked
Activation/deavtivation takes 2-3 seconds, during which time weapons/shields are still diabled.

It wont stop the modders from tweaking it, but at least unmodded server play will be a little more fair....

Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.

I think that there should be long range radar or some kind of device aviable.
In the same aspect of different shield protect against different weapons; different ways of detection (say radar, thermo, doppler...i am not sure i am no physicist) will have different properties, some have longer range but wont be able to detect certain engine, some can detect cloke ships but short range..etc

that'll make life so much easier when you have...umm...let's just say rare expensive finds on board, police dont creep up on you.

Also is it only me or do people feel the story is too short? i mean after the campaign, you get to be a freelancer and everything, but then there's no goal sort of, and gets pretty lonely. and when you are really bored, you do things like my friend did, he spent like 40 mins, and brought down Fort Bush...

I guess the DA programmers decided not to make upgradable avionics part of the game to keep it simple.. I still remember in Privateer when you can upgrade to different kinds of radars with different features such as color-coding and lead-computing gunsights, which was totally awesome.

Different kinds of sensors would have been good in FL... Such as radars/lidars, optical and IR scanners that operate at different wavelengths, each with its own strengths and weaknesses such as one kind would work best in one particular environment (nebula) while not so good at another (asteroid field), etc.

Who knows, maybe in the future if DA decides to do a space sim that is not so simplistic..
